Default 2009 Honda CRF230M

Hello all, I never post in here, but usually browse though as when I was younger I was hardcore into motocross

Searched and nothing really came up, but what do you all think about this little guy?

I'm really starting to dig these supermoto bikes and would be the most practical for me if I were to start riding due to the price and my intentions, which is mainly going back and forth to my lake house in the summer and running little errands.

looks a lot better than the 230L of 08.if all you are planning to do is do errands and a slight commute, its a ok bike which gets about 70-80 mpgs.dont expect it to boggle you in and out of traffic, its honestly got about as much power as a xr200 which basically is all it is.for the price, its a better deal than other bikes in its class except for the kaw250.me personally,i would look for a xr650.why hasnt honda coverted the crf450r into a sumo yet

i dont think it has went the 450 route, because placing the new 450r motor in this would be a beast

although to you and i, it makes perfect sense to make it, i have a feeling honda wont do it for a while

i doubt i'll get it, but posted due to honda getting a little closer

I've been eyeing this up since it was announced, but I think Honda missed the boat for tailoring it to motard use - specifically the front brake and forks. I don't mind the small bore engine as I've been comfortable with riding XR250Rs and XR200Rs for years.

I'm probably just going to buy an L, and if I want to do a motard race I'll buy the 17s later.

I think for riding around the lake house that bike would be perfect, except there are plenty of older dual-sports that are street legal and can be had for much cheaper.

Doesn't look like there's room for anything much bigger, certainly not any thing liquid cooled.

Is a used bike/converting a Dualsport to SM out of the question?

The honda SM sucks *****. The WR 250x is the best 250cc factory sumo, from what I hear.

The only thing that may have a shot at being as good is the kawi 250 sm, but no one has much of an opinion on it yet.

It is a lot of dough for something thats got its design roots in the 70's. XR200 is where this thing is from. Stroked a bit to get to 230. IMO you're not giving up much going with a drz400. Yeah a little heavier, bigger, expensiver, but you get a lot more for it.. have to cruise on the interstate at 80- no prob, gas the front wheel up over something- no prob. If I were stuck on a 250 I'd get the Kawi.
