Default :::UPDATED::: 12-11-08 idle and cel issue 98 ex. Yikes

well the problem im having is when i start the car the idle is at about 300-400 rpm then the cel comes on and jumps to about 1000-1100.I used a scanner and got code p0108 i think (map high circuit input i believe) i replaced the map and problem persists.when i have the car running and i clear the code the light goes off for about 2 seconds the idle drops to 300-400 then the cel comes right back and the idle jumps back to 1000-1100 extremely weird i have searched and have found no similar topics also just replaced plugs and wires. Any input is wesome i am just stumped

:::UPDATE::: 12-11-08 i had the car cut out on me again and did not start back up for an hour.So i whipped out the instinct phone and did some research cuz i had time on my hands at that point lol.saw a thread talking about the main relay so i tested i turned the key and didnt hear the relay click or fuel prime so i said bingo.Changed the main relay and seems to be good now. (Knock on wood)

The TPS might not be calibrated. check that. might be the IACV maybe as well. i think if you take it to auto zone they can scan it for free and tell ya whats wrong with it.

have you changed anything before this started happening? other than the plugs and wires? or did you replace them thinking that was the cause?

Check for vaccum leaks as well. A vaccum leak would cause the map to send the wrong signal to the ECU, thus giving very low, or high idles (erratic). Sometimes its the smallest things like that, that throw off everything else.

ok just got done the vac line check and there was no difference when i sprayed the brake cleaner.I did however take the car for a drive driving for about 5-10 mins then got to a stop light shifted from 1 to 2nd and look at the tach and rpm's are reading 0 hit the gas and still no change then about 5 seconds later it comes back to life the car never died it was just like there was no throttle response. Then about 10-15 miles later i was rolling steady at about 65-70 on the highway and it happened again no rpm engine still running no throttle response this time it was for about 10 seconds and came back to life. This is just weird i believe i need to replace the dizzy d16y8 with 130,000 is there any way that issue could be related to the dizzy ?
