Default 92 accord shuts off when i let go of key

my 92 accord keeps running as long as i hold the key, as soon as i let it go the engine stops running. i think my ignition is messed up.

You need to replace the electrical portion of the ignition switch.
Drop off the steering column shroud, [screws on the under side]
Then you can have fun getting the 6mm bolts out to R&R the switch.

I've repaired alot of those by just disassembling the switch and sanding down the electrical connections inside. They get corroded and lose conductivity. Never had one that didn't work after working on it inside. They're so simple to pull out, it's worth the shot to save the cash.

why not just replace part #11 since that is the switch...that way you use the same old key and dont have to mess with taking the assembly off the column.

i took apart the actual switch and sanded down the contacts just like "RC000E" said to do. and the car cranks up and runs fine now. the contacts look worn out so i ordered i new switch anyway. thanks for the help!!

sometimes this problem can be caused by having too many keys on your key chain. try to limit the weight on your key chain, and there for the stress on your ignition assembly.
