Default Locating oil leak

My 94 EX has an oil leak that i need to find and fix I changed the oil today, and while under the car i really couldn't see where it is originating from because of all the dirt and grime for the years it's been around! Would it be a wise idea to spray the underside of the engine with a degreaser and hose it down to get it clean with hope of seeing where the leak is coming from or is there a better way to go about finding it

That's the first thing I'd do.
Clean it until everythings dry, road test it and inspect it again.

Either that or buy some petroleum based floresant dye, add it to the oil and borrow a black light from the local night club.
The dye will glow when the ultraviolet light hits it.

You can buy a ultraviolet light at your near by mall Im pretty sure. But I would do that test and see what happens.. It could also be the gasket around the oil pan..

go to the local self car wash and hose down the motor(leave it running). the seals on that motor all leak after a while. its best to start at the top and go down

If you find this in the vicinity of the oil filter (Engine (left side rear), the oil pressure sender switch (mounted just above the oil filter may be leaking. Both being under pressure, these both have the tendency to leak with some enthusiasm.

there is a seal retainer you have to install otherwise the front seal pops out and you are screwed as all the oil comes out of the car asap. Most honda dealers installed this as part of a timing belt kit and the recall expired a few years ago

upon further inspecation, it looks like it's the rear main seal as well as the oil pan gasket. I am going to change both this weekend seeing as how its a long weekend!
