Thinking about a 97 Prelude I found
Hello everyone, brand new to this forum
I have some friends that are into their import cars.. rsx-s, is300, gsr integ, 240sx..
I'm about to purchase my first car, (were all just out of high school, 18/19 yrs old)
Found this 97 Prelude with 115k miles, havent test driven it yet or seen it in person but the seller claims all it needs is a little tiny body work on the front bumper and a timing belt change and it will be good to go.
They've got me into cars ever since they bought theirs, I'm really envious of them
Anyways I got him down to 3800 cash.
Only problem though is its an Automatic! but its alright
So what do you guys say? I would be very very satisified with this car! Its bone stock, so I can do a lot of things to it if i wanted, which i plan on doing if i get it.
Images of the exterior attached
Requested pics of the engine bay, havent got a reply yet (its 1 am
)
Also, the interior is super clean and looks untouched, im not going to bother showing it

no, it'll fail. so unless if you're really set on automatic.. just no.
im actually selling my 97' soon (h22's back in) and im probably gonna be letting it go for 5500-6500. 75k w/ clean title and 5spd. prelude's just aren't worth that much anymore, and only a fool would stay firm on the KBB price. my car in good condition books at like 8k, but after all my repairs to get it tip-top im not even expecting 7. in this economy... haha dont think so.
honestly i think you should just keep looking.

The auto trans will fail. Many Prelude owners with auto trans go through more than one trans. If you need an automatic, the Prelude isn't the car for you. In the long run, getting a manual for your first car is a much better choice, whatever the car is.
