How can I tell apart a 93-96 vtec from a base.
Hey guys I am going to look at a prelude tomorrow that has a jdm vtec motor in it can you guys tell me everything I need to look for to make sure the car was originally a vtec model? Or if this info is already available let me know where to find it?
Si is BB2, just for the record.
Also, VTEC models came with a speaker between the rear seats and I believe they had map lights where the rear view mirror is. Of course, all that can be swapped in, but it's something to look for. The VIN is always your best bet though.

I had a 93/94 Vtec model that didnt have the speaker in the middle. but like everyone said your best bet is to check all the VIN numbers..(hood, trunk, doors) to see if it matches.
And my 92 Si has one. Check the VIN number. Also, check the engine code. It's right to the left of the exhaust manifold, on the block. It should say H22A for the jdm motor, if it's H22A1 it's the USDM motor.
