Honda civic 95 coupe Need Professional advice about muffler performance
Ok so heres the detail about my ride. I have a MT 1995 honda civic EX coupe. Under the hood is a stock engine. I had my whole exhaust pipe changed to 2" and at the end was a replica tanabe exhaust end. It was professionally welded on. So the inlet was 2" and the outlet was I think either 3.5"-4". The sound was deep tone and it was nice. what my friend and I noticed when driving, the car would start out with a little rumble in the tone when it accelerates, kinda like a stall before it kicks in. It could be my shifting skills still need to improve or its something else. My friends all drove my car and its doing the same thing. After starting off on first gear. The engine is in good shape 140,000k. So here is why Im asking for advice about mufflers. My car is pretty slap to the ground its about 2-3 inches off the ground. I recently scraped the exhaust end pretty hard one day. The bottom edge of the can has a crack now and it has created a new sound and feel to the acceleration. The sound turn into a rumbling sound and the car rumbles a little when i drive now. The acceleration is slow also. So i believe its the extra hole i created that is causing this to happen. I hope Im right. So here's the question. I realize the size of the pipe outlet might be too big, that is probably the reason why I had the little rumble in the tone when I start off first gear before I had a hole. There wasnt enough pressure? And now having another extra hole addition to my 3.5-4" outlet, it feels like i lost a lot of pressure that's why my acceleration is very slow. I hope I am on the right track. So now I'm looking for a new exhaust end. I been looking around and had some questions about muffler specs. So here are my questions, after my incident i realize I can gain more performance in my car if I got a smaller size on the outlet end. Which this will create more pressure? correct? I still want that deep tone sound. I am deciding to keep the 2" inlet but I dont know how big for the outlet. Maybe somewhere from 2-2.5" for the outlet. Is smaller the outlet the higher the performance? what is the difference between oval mufflers and cylinder mufflers? when i was looking at oval mufflers there was different length size for the can, from like 14" to 24". What kind of difference is there in length wise? Sorry everyone this post is getting to long. I just want to know if I'm on the right track and advice on the muffler specs for high performance with a deep tone. Thanks everyone. I really appreciate this forum community. hope to hear some good advices out there.
2" exhaust on your car should be fine. fix the holes you got in the exhaust. is it the resonator that has a hole? not to sure what kind of exhaust you should get. tanabe is nice exhaust but really its your choice. i have b16 in my eg hatch now and i wasn't running the d series for very long because it was so slow. either way if your really feeling a power difference you might not have enough back pressure. this info is probablly not really gona help ya but oh well lol. sorry im buzzed right now!

i don't think the resonator has a hole. I checked the whole piping system looking for extra exhaust waste and i couldnt see it coming out of anywhere else. The resonator was one that I thought could of been the problem. The resonator could be empty, i might need a new one. ill try to fix the hole and see what happens.
2.25 should be good, 2.5 is something you might want to think about if you want to get it boosted. i recently bought a srs exhaust from this guy on ebay named nissangtr power for 192 bucks he sells one for your car too. seen it on youtube, pretty sick and so far every buyer liked it. just my opinion, what you pay is what you get, and i feel good for buying this exhaust.
