Default Dome light and light around key hole stay on

Hi
I got a 91 EX. and the dome light, the light around the key hole stay on all the time. and the light on the dash saying the drivers door stays on and that beep beep beep when the car is on. But the seat belt goes like it should, when I start the car it works right when I open and close the door it works right. Any one have any help or a starting point. thanks..

The starting point is the door jam switch, the one that is pushed when you close the door, do you know how to remove it and test a switch and clean the ground?

Yes i took one from the back door. it still did the same thing. my thinking of doing that was if the swich was bad it would of told me that the back door was open.

As long as the ground for the front door switch is clean, I will look for other causes for this problem. You are right, it must be something else. When the door is closed, the switch is pushed to an OPEN CIRCUIT position, so what else is giving this circuit a ground.

Or is it being pushed to an open circuit position, remove the switch completely and leave the wire disconnected, is it a one wire circuit. If it is a one wire circuit and the light stays on with the switch removed, then this wire must be grounded.

OK, I am done researching, can you find out if your car has a MULTIPLEX UNIT, it deals with dome light and electric door locks and some other accessory stuff. Disconnect your battery for an hour and see if a timer will reset and start working again. I dont think you have an anti theft radio, but if you do, do you know how to reset it. Does your instrument cluster show you which door is ajar, if so, and the light works properly, then the door switch is working.

something is grounding it as duane said, pull each switch clean throughly and see if it helps.

if not, then test wire at switch at open and closed position.

if power remains you know if is that switch with defect
