need ideas for new motor
i have 92 integra gs 1.8 dohc thats as much as i know the motor is way to high in miles due up to be replaced but i need help... i would like to know what all engines could i just drop right in and hook up without any troubles
any b series motor is a drop in. at most you'll be adding a vtec if you opt for a vtec motor. and a jumper harness if you're going obd2. it'll all depend on your budget and what you want to achieve out of this motor.
motor at 218k and at the moment id like a new reliable motor for the time being no boost vtec or not i just need an eazy drop in for hopefully about $1500 give or take or would it be cheaper and smarter to rebuild?
for rebuilding, that'll depend on what you'll be doing. i know some people that just replace the bearings and rings. other's do a complete overhaul. if you have some automotive knowledge in rebuilding and have the time and another car to use. i say go for it. but if not, ls motors aren't that expensive. my friend bought a car with a burnt valve and just decided to get another motor. he bought a ls motor from tigerjdm or something like that for around 900 shipped to his doorstep. and then we just swapped his intake manifold, exhaust manifold, distributor, power steering, crank pulley and transmission. took about two days because we mess around too much.
my motor is at 218k so a full rebuild would be nessicary what would the cost of that run me? and i want a fresh build engine with very little worry of it blowing up on me before i think of doing anything with it so shoot me what you think a full rebuild would cost

I also have a 92 and was in your same situation, but I optioned for a 95 JDM GSR because it was a direct drop in because the car is OBD1 and the engine is OBD1.
But since you said your budget is 1500 that means you can not get a GSR. I would suggest either a fresh LS or B20 and no matter what engine you do go with I HIGHLY suggest going with a B16 transmission or AT LEAST a GSR transmission. You will not regret it, The LS transmission is the most horrible thing honda made for any integra or civic. Trust me, since you are doing an engine swap do the transmission at the same time.

b18b's are cheap at hmotorsonline.com if it were an 18c motor rebuilding makes sense since they cost so much more. the jdm b18b is something like $599. that's how i'd go, drop it, start it, drive it. you probably should order the whole motor/tranny combo since your car has so many miles.

thanks very helpfull
B18B is a decent engine, strong components, but not as seamless of a powerband as the B18C. Plus the benefits of oil squirters and superior cam profiles are pretty incomparable, especially on the ported B18C5.
what motor can i directly drop into my integra gs 1992 and have to not change anything such as wiring harness and all that i just need to know that and ill will buy that imediatly and start bring my beast back to life !
Wiring in VTEC isn't hard. It's two wires through the firewall and into the ECU plugs, and a ground, and the ECU gets changed out. Depending how clean of a look you're after, you could do it in under half an hour.
A friend of mine works on Jeeps and said that it usually costs around $1000 to rebuild an engine. I assume that $1500 would cover rebuilding your GSR.

you can burn up 1500 fast in a gsr build. this guys problem is not having the block or head which will cost him around 550 just for a core. price plays a big part here. b18b's and b20s are cheap motors. the b18c is not
OP let me ask you something...why does your motor need to be replaced at 218k? I know people with more miles than that and they have yet to be rebuilt. I think Patrickgsr94 (or however his username is lol has over 300k. If your motor is fine then leave it alone, your already planning to rebuild or build this summer anyway
