question about h22a distributor
hey guys, my lady was having some dizzy problems where it was a little jumpy over 6k rpms in her 93 prelude, it has a jdm h22a in it, so we bought a "supposedly good" dizzy from a friend of ours to replace it with.
Well last night she put it on, and car would not crank, just turn over, so i popped the hood, checked all connections, they all looked good, except..... on the dizzy's harness, there are two plugs, one with 2 larger gauge wires (which is fine) and on plug with 8 wires. Well for WHATEVER reason, someon cut the green wire and put a male crimp connector on it as if it was jumping to something else on there car. so i just put a T tap connector on the wire on the other side of that connector so i could jump to green wire around the plug to the other side to the blue wire where it would have went originally.
Ok, i know it sounds confusing but basically the wire was cut at the plug head, so i just bypassed the plug and straight wired it - to make things less confusing. now it sounds like it wants to start but doesn't, does anyone know what could be wrong? or why someone would try to cut/bypass the green wire on the dizzy side of the plug.
guys i appologize if that sounds confusing, in the meantime i'm going to try to find an online diagram.

oh another thing, her motor as stated is a jdm h22a, it has an external coil, the dizzy our friend sold us is the same, uses external coil, well not knowing much about the prelude world as much as i do b series, whats the deal, is it supposed to have a dizzy with internal coil? is it ok to have the one with external coil?
Yeah i would try another distributor 1st. Using a external is perfectly fine. Odds r they used the existing harness when they did the swap which was wired for the external usdm distributor. Put the old one on and make sure it still starts to eliminate any other issues. If thats the case order a new used honda brand distributor. I am on my 4th distrbutor for my h22a. As far as why someone would splice that wire. I belive thats the wire you need when installing a aftermarket tach...correct me if im wrong.
