Default RE : Speedometer Help VSS LOCATION ??

Hello 1grex, P Adams Muffinman

Located the service check connector but it has a male plug could not use jumper. Drove to Honda they showed me how to read the computer located Pz floorboard. Lamp Flashed #17 indicating V Speed sensor. I purchased one

Guess what ? I cannot find where it mounts. I should have asked Honda Well I ch Checked all around the transaxle could not see any thing that looked like it

Can some one tell me where it mounts From above ( hood lifted ) or under ( vehicle jacked up)

90 Accord LX 5 Speed

Thanks

Gotca, glad that was the issue

From the front of the car, take off the intake arm and swing it out of the way, if you have a strut bar take that off too.

On the transmission (so left side) go all the way back to the throttle body and look straight down with a flash light - in case it's dirty or something. If you have one already you should be able to compare and find it, it's kinda located on the top rear section of the transmission under the TB. I was able to squeeze my hands down in there with a small ratchet and pull it up and out. Be careful of a little pin that fits into a hole as it may fall down.

P might have a diagram. But it's not difficult.

Hello Friends UPDATE

I've not yet replaced the Speed Sensor ( just too wet no place to work). But guess what.

The CEL would come on after about 5 kms and stay on but then the day before it did not come on for a while. Yesterday my speedometer and odometer was working even with the CEL on Then after the ignition was off it did not work thenas I drove it worked again and no CEL light again it began to work. Whats happening ?? Is it a loose connection ?
Today I drove for awhile the speedo & odo were not working and then it started. When I stopped 5 km later it stopped. I checked the Computer (Pz floorboard) and there was no FLASHING CODE.
I drove around and the later the CEL came on and stayed on for a bit. I noticed the speedo & odo were not working.
Stopped then retarted and the od & speedo were working It worked for the best part of two hours. Just small errands. The CEL came on for perhaps 10 -15 minutes.
I am so confused. The ECM computer ?? did not flash. Whats happening. ????

P Adams MuffinMan, 1grex Duane Please help

Probably the VSS as indicated previously. Read this link.

Thanks Redbull-1
I checked out the link ... I'll try and tackle this when the weather is better. It must be the contacts or possibly a broken or loose the drive link.
Its getting to the VSS that poses a problem for me. I MEAN ACCESSING IT.
MuffinMan said to unhook the in-take arm out of the way and the strut bar as well and then get your arm in there.. I tried but I cannot seem to get the ratchet clear so as to turn it. U can tell I ain't no mechanic. lol Because I cannot see it I am just going by what it feels like.

Yeah it is DEFINITELY a tight fit, I may have even used the screwdriver style tool with the socket on the end to get to it.

Wedge a flash light in there pointed down so you can see it, that should help tremendously.

I would say that the computer monitors the VSS and not the speedo and odo. It sounds like you may have two problems but what is the second problem after the VSS, a loose connection or a bad speedo assy.
