Theres a marginal weight decrease, so the cars a little lighter, nothing that really makes any difference, certainly nothing worth removing the A/C over.

Theres no real load on the engine unless the A/C is actually on, the compressor uses clutch, unless the A/C is actually on the pulley just spins freely.

yea what he said. so mostly its just the weight of the components weighing you down that have any effect. also by removing the strain on the engine you're not adding hp, your simply freeing up what was always there. of course as was already mentioned there isnt really a strain at all unless it's running.

By removing the AC you technically have less rotational mass as well. You will not see a significant change by removing it. I will assure you of that. The major change is like 60lbs in weight. Just take out a seat or something instead. If your car is a Daily driver I would keep AC and just delete power steering x]

yes that's what i thought too. i like ac in the hot summer days. i usually turn off ac if im going to race. for the weight deduction 60 lbs will be no help. because having subs in the trunk is not an excuse that you lost.LOL

60lbs? its more like 40. I'd much rather have PS than A/C in a daily. It never really gets that hot here though. Every bit of weight lost helps. You might not notice 40lb, but 40lb + removing interior + remove PS + smaller battery + lighter wheels /exhaust / suspension all these things provide small gains but add up to big gains

It cleans up the engine bay way nicer as well, and it's another thing you won't have to remove when you're doing major work on it. I don't have AC, and on +35(CELCIUS), I just roll both the windows down.

i live in so cal so yeah the temp. range is from 70 degrees (which to me is FREEZING!) and well sometimes 90 so A/C will always be wanted though rolling down windows are usually good enough

It feels like you're going faster with the windows down too, + you get a "driving arm" tan.

This reminds me of the time I took out AC from my old Civic, feeling good about it. Then fire season came in and I had to go to San Diego, wow. I had to roll the windows down, it was hot and all I smelled was smoke.

The pulley weighs like? what? 0.5lbs by itself? Who cares.

60LBS?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A civic's AC system might weigh 60lbs if you filled it with lead pellets.

More like 30lbs or so. The Compressor is about 10lbs. The condensor another 5-10lbs, the fan is around 5lbs, the lines are around 2lbs put together.

Just leave the AC in. If you're hell bent on taking it out for some reason, atleast take it to a shop to have it drained first. Do the right thing.
