Default Avid Racing Motor Mount Review

So I recently received a set of Avid Racing motor mounts. Comes with the 2 side mounts and a rear mount. The rear mount is BEEFY. They come in two stiffnesses, 70A and 90A i believe. I chose the latter. Anyway, onto my impressions.

Appearance
Not bad, the billet aluminum looks good for engine bay bling. Powdercoating on the bracket also looks well done. Bolts are all high grade, and they come with nylon lock nuts. All together, very appealing to the eye. Only thing I can critique on is the machining could have been done a little better, you can still see some of the lines where it was cut with the CNC.

Installation
Install was a breeze. You could easily do this by yourself, just one side at a time. I'd have to say the toughest mount to do was the driver's side motor mount. Stupid transmission bracket didn't want to line up! The rear isn't as hard as many think, it just takes removal of the header to allow for more room. I'd give fitment an 8/10, as you have to fidget with it a little for the perfect fit.

Performance
These things are stiff! Once I started up the car, the whole chassis was rattling. Keep in mind these are not broken in yet. At idle, it feels very good. Not much vibration. These motor mounts really do their job. Shifting is smoother, and you can hear the motor working through the car lol. I've already taken it on a few spirited runs and nothing has broken. Really a good piece. Vibrations only really occur from 800rpm to 1300 rpm. Motor really feels solid when driving. I'd recommend these as an alternative to Innovatives.

Here are some pics of the finished product, I don't have any of the rear mount because it was too hard to see lol:

Stay tuned for next week's review of the Innovative Mounts.

I'm also running avid motor mounts. Couple of problems I have with them are the bracket on the passenger side doesn't sit flush on my car because of a lip. So I am going to modify the bracket a little. I also had to shave a little off the actual mount that goes onto the engine bracket because of how the machining was done. I haven't installed my engine yet but I can't wait to see how they hold up

Well I got a chance to install the new AVID engine mounts.

I used to have a set of AVID Billet race mounts installed before the Innovatives and they were way too stiff, these new AVID's are the 75a hardness and feel about like the Innovatives did with the A/C on. The vibes dont get worse with the A/C on, just a different frequency to the vibes..

Seeing that I dont have an airbox or battery up front, both mounts were easy to install. You will notice that the mounts have oversized holes for the chassis mounting bolts. The supplied hardware worked fine. The passenger side has holes that allow some left and right movement to allow for the subframe movement range(for tire alignment etc). I used two of the short pointed studs for the actual engine side of the mount, looks cleaner.
Due to the length of the two lower bolts on the drivers side mount, you need to either lower the engine/subframe or insert the bolts in the mount, slide the tranny side mount onto the AVID mount without the cross bolt in and then slide them down over the long trans studs. Now turn the lower bolts in by hand till you can get a wrench on to them(easiest from below). When all the bolts are started and properly lined up, tighten both side mounts nice and tight now.

FAR less engine movement than the street hardness Innovatives already with just those three mounts, a WindoWeld'd stock front mount(during/post cure heat brings windoweld to 75 durometer)

Before(notice how the poly bushing is pushed outwards by the weight of the engine, this causes them to rip) and allows the verticle movement,

And the Drivers side mount,
Before, Notice how the insert has been partially pushed thru and the mount is contacting the mount shell.

After,

The new AVID passenger side mount blows the Innovative pass side mount OUT OF THE WATER ! ! ! :
I went thru three Innovative passenger side mounts and one rear mount, and the trans side mount had pushed the poly insert partially out and the aluminum brackett was contacting the body of the mount.

The 70 hardness may be a little more than most what people would be willing to put up with, so get the 60 hardness.

This new AVID Passenger side design is alot closer to the style of mount used on the newer FG2 and FA5 stock mounts.

I love these mounts! They are great feeling, barely any vibration at all and I have the 75a mid grade mounts. I am impressed.

I ordered just the passenger one (my OEM ripped off last night) and did homemade urethane for the others. Hopefully the bracket thing isn't too much trouble for me.

^^^ The crazy long bolt came on some cars but not others. If you want a cleaner look you can remove that long *** stud and replace with some bolts. Either way will not have an effect on the performance of the mount. You can relocate the ground wire to the 10mm bolt located directly right of the long stud in your pic (on the engine). The mount looks good!

that long *** bolt almost screwed me over (no homo). I didn't even think about and then went to put on my normal 17mm deep socket and screamed NNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! I was ready to just cut the bolt half as long but got scarred.

Ran to Sears right before closing and bought a super deep socket
