Default Koni Yellow Installation

Hello Again,

Ok. I might be dumb or just stupid.

How do you put the oem bump stop there when the hole on the oem bump stop is small, there is a thing blocking it.

I know that the bump stop supposed to go where the red arrow is at not in the blue arrow right? and the instruction is poorly written.

Do I just need to make the hole bigger?

i believe u put the bumpstop upside down or using the wrong part that u cut. The wider part is supposed to be facing up. u kno how it fits in with the washer that goes on after u put the bumpstop on?

but... u need muscle. I just stood the strut up straight. put my palms on both sides of the bumpstop and just put my weight on it quickly and just plopped down. Might jammed up a little but it'll go down without widening the hole.

You can use a Dremel rotary tool or similar to ream out the hole in the bump stop slightly. The OE piston rod diameter is 10mm while the Koni piston rod diameter is 12mm, so you'll want to take off about 1mm all the way around (which results in a 2mm larger diameter hole). The little welded bit on the rod helps to retain the bump stop.

Dont forget to cut the bump stop if you're lowering the ride height. As mentioned above, flip it over too; you've got it upside-down.

Ok. That bump stop is actually cut in half. I am going to put the other half when I install it.

My old shock is the illuminas with H&R sport with 1 finger gap all around on 17" and when I cut the bump stop in half to have more travel, but it just lower the car more especially the front and the bottoming out problem occurs.

That is why I change to koni yellow I don't think that illumina can handle more than 1.5 drop.

Thanks

Cutting the bump stops won't lower the car unless it was sitting on the bump stops at static ride height. That is bad. If you were bottoming out the dampers with Illuminas, it is almost certain that you will also bottom out with the Konis.

What are the reasons for the little white washers on the shock? I don't think I have mine on there. How bad is it to have the bumpstops upside down?

I am just following the instruction from Koni, I'm gonna reverse the bump stop when I put it in this weekend.

I'd also love to know what the white plastic washer is for?

the white plastic is put underneath the bumpstop to prevent it from sucking up the oil from the shocks
