Default Flames

What would make your car blow a 1 foot or so flame out of the exhaust. It's not my EP, I swapped an LS about a month ago into an EG. The motor is in awesome shape, it pulls hard (it actually is faster than my ep) and the only mods are a v2 intake, ctr crank pulley, Exedy Stg. 2 clutch and 9lb flywheel and straight piping to es muffler. I'm boosting it this weekend but I don't want to create more problems with more power if there's something wrong. I've seen flames shoot on boosted cars and high horsepower NA cars but never just a lil LS. I don't need the smart *** comments about how this isn't the EG or Integra thread because I'm sure it has nothing to do with it being a b-series motor. Thanks.

it means your car is running so rich that you have a lot of unburnt fuel in your exhaust pipe. i take it you're running without a cat?

yeah, no cat. So when I get tuned they should take care of the a/f ratio. It's not gonna cause problems is it? Kinda sucks that I'm waisting gas but atleast it's being used for something haha j/k.

Will this cause any problems if I keep driving it. I'm not going to be driving it because I have my EP for a DD but potentially could there be more problems if not fixed?

As long as you tune it soon you should be ok. As for your muffler filter im not so sure. Why dont you just pick up a little vafc? With that atleast you can down tune a little before you go in for a real tune.

True, That's actually good because I think the vafc II I can use for a boost controller as well. Thanks guys.

You can keep driving it, but you'll make more power if you advance the timing a bit.

You know, nobody seems to have a probem with me asking a general question but you. What I asked could happen to any car, so I asked in forum where I knew there were people with good tech knowledge, since I'm never in the EG or Integra forum I don't know what they know. I think this is a fair question considering there's always atleast a few posts that are supposed to be funny or have nothing to do with the "information" that you must be looking for. I guess I could have expected this because there's always someone who wants to try and punk somebody since they know everything there is to know.

Yep... high fuel pressure. My friend's MX3 does it and he is running crazy high fuel pressure. Pretty sick watching a 2.5L V6 (swapped KLZE) rev to 8000 RPMs and shoot flames.

Also my other friends' RX7 Turbo II and Supra Turbo do it too... Once you install a turbo kit and get it fully tuned it might do it a little too but I'd rather it run a little rich than lean. It's nice when you have a boosted car with a 2 step that shoots a little flame. People will learn never to ride your *** at a stop light haha.
