CRX wiring harnesses
I was wondering if all crx wiring harnesses are plug and play into the main fuse panel... my problem is i can only find a 90-91 dash wiring harness and cluster but i have a 88 hf crx...are the plug and play??
Im no guru, but ive made an entire crx harness from scratch in the cabin and bay of my 89 rex. And ive collected plenty of harnesses from them too. So far the only differences ive noticed are that the DX version of the crx has dpfi not mpfi. So for a mpfi swap on a dx you have to wire the other 2 injectors. All the plugs are the same in both the cabin and bay of all 88-91 crx's. Automatics also have another harness that im pretty sure is not found in a manual. The crx special additioin has power windows and locks in the door so theres two more harness difference that i havent dealt with yet. If the 90-91 speedometer is cable driven than it shouldnt be a problem. Some of these may be false, but I think experience is the best way to learn anything now a days cuz its the only method that makes sense in your head. ive seen these entire harnesses and have the skill to fix pretty much any electrical problem in a crix. Not to sound cocky but if you need help with anything else let me know, i hate dealing with electrical problems by yourself.
What happened to your factory harness?
The reason I'm asking is it makes for a good template for the new harness.
While fixing my new ’90 Si that came with a CRX dash - dude cut the harness - I happen to remember I had a spare CRX dash harness from an HF - being a wiring ***** I tend to keep all Honda wiring harnesses I com across as you never know when you might need it. The only difference was the up-shift light for the HF - as most of us know the Si didn’t have an up-shift light. So, I re-pined the harness for the 18 pin plug and all was well.
Okay now to the point. Since you have the ’90 dash with all of the components - most of which are the same between the two years except the cluster and visor - which you now have - the only major change for ME was the white 22pin (??) I think for the ’90 Si it was an 18 pin (??). Check that and install the dash.
If you have any questions hit me up...
...but find a service manual
