What are your autocrosses like?
Just wondering, because our last Philly region SCCA gave us only 3 runs on a 33-35sec course. so 1.5min for $20
and the previous two events they gave us 4 runs. Is this the norm?
During the HypeRfest, I drove for almost 1.5hrs on Jefferson Circuit for $99.
and the weekend before I drove 2 days and 4hrs on Summit main.
Ok, autocrossing is still fun but I just want to know how it is in your area? How many runs do you get?

NNJR SCCA gives you 6 runs for $25/$35 the last time i went.
The M Club gets you 8 runs for the $30/$40. I believe NASA Northeast gets you the same for the same price.

At the last NWR-SCCA event I went to, I got 4 runs just under 60 seconds each for $25 (it's $20 for members).
I drive slow, to maximize my dollar/second ratio.

Gulfcoast gives you 4 runs on a 80 second course for 25 on sundays, 15 bucks for ~15 runs on a 35 second course on saturday practice days
CFR SCCA is 20 bucks for 4 runs on a 35-65 second course...depends on location
Buccaneer SCCA was 25 for 6 runs on a 40 second course

Most DC clubs give 3 or 4 runs of 50-60 seconds for $20-$25. Sometimes there is time for "fun runs" at the end, sometimes we pay for them, sometimes we don't.
I went to a Philly SCCA autocross last march, got 5 runs + 1 rerun. At the FCSCC event I went to two weeks ago I got 4 runs. I would have gotten one fun run in if my master cylinder lasted that long. Both courses were in the 40-50 second range

3 runs for $25, with the hope for fun runs - more not and than often, and definately not often enough.
another question for you guys, how are your courses set up? i found that in burlingame, VT when i was visiting, they had relatively little number of gates which were mostly just two cones on each side and up to you to create your own line. also they had a stop box after the timer, which you had to stop completely in and any knocked cones counted, so you had to time your stop from full throttle well and hope you had the brakes. i found the same thing true in Maryland at rosecroft course. also that particular course made you do a figure eight TWICE and you were supposed to remember how many times you went thru it the gate. I DNF'd all 4 runs... whereas here in SF region they space the turns out, and heavily fortify some turns with lots of cones, mark out the track mostly with chalk. There was no brake box after the timer, just enough space for you to slow down and pick up your times. I recently saw a clip of a SoCal run from JaeOne and it was completely fully laid out with chalk and a cone every 5 feet it seemed like. I thought the differences were interesting... what about your region?

You SF people might be interested in this but at the Fresno auto-x held in Atwater north of merced you got 5 runs each over a min(for the really really good drivers) since it was my first auto-x my runs started at 1:20 and went to 1:08(which was actually pretty good). Some sick cars out there too

at the last (my 2nd) event, we had 6 runs on a 1:10 (for the best driver) coarse, with a full throttle finish
. afterwards there were plenty of fun runs plus you can run the coarse backwards on saturday untill your tires blow
. the coarse is set up for v8 cars to have fun with

In the Atlanta region, SCCA members pay $25 for four timed runs on a course that runs any where from 50 to 70 secs. With a minimum of 170 entrants at each event, we never have any time for fun runs.
Susquehanna Region you get 4 runs for $20. Fun runs are $10 (same amount of runs as competition runs).
Last week AI ran our event and we got 5 runs for $20 and 5 run funs
Philly events (depending on how many people show up) you can get 6 runs or 8 runs. At one of the winter series we ran 8 runs and were done by 4pm.
Only problem with the winter philly events is it feels like you are going non-stop from 8am-4pm. No time to each, drink, or go to the bathroom.

Boston BMW - 8 runs 1 minute each. $20. (Need to pay $35 for membership per year too) so if you do all 8, it averages out to just under $25 an event. Hopefully next year we'll have the new facility again and get 8 90 second runs) :D
New England SCCA $20 - 3 Runs about 45-60 seconds depending on venue.

We gernerally garuntee everyone 4 timed runs, possibly 5 if we're on our game and have no timing problems. Always fun runs.
OT: love the avatar. That's one of my all-time favorite movies. "I want my $2!!!!!"
I'm assuming you're talking about boeing. I've never been to the boeing events but when philly runs at Nazareth we usually get ~6 runs that are about 45 seconds. Same thing when philly region ran their winter series in camden. I think boeing is just too small (from what I hear).

I've never done Boeing either. Camden is
Our region's lot was getting smaller and smaller. At one point our runs were mid-20s. That sucked.
Now we have this huge lot and don't know what to do with it.

Houston area SCCA gets you 4 runs on 50-60 second courses for $20/$25. New this year is practice events on some Saturdays where you get about 20 runs on a 30-45 second course. Regular events usually have about 200 entrants...never had any fun runs since I've been autocrossing (~1 year). Do have night events..as a matter of fact the second one this year is this coming Saturday night....wooo hooo!
As far as course layouts you can see the past Houston SCCA courses HERE.
Below is this Saturday night's layout:

In Huntsville alabama it goes like this
Course: anywhere from 45-130 sec courses
Usually 6-8 runs
Fun runs afterwards cost $1.00 a run and you can prolly get 5-6 in if you really want, i usually do 2-3, get my best time of the day and say screw it.
Cost for the timed runs- $15 non member, $10 member

In wisconsin for SCCA and the local autocross club WAI you get 6 runs, plus fun runs at the end. the times runs are about 65-80 seconds. It is run buy a bunch of guys who finish up top each year at nationals so they use some interesting cone configuration to see how new ideas work. They have a 150 car max and it is full through the whole season. I like how the events are run here but am intrested in how other chapters organize everything.
-nate (solo junky, track time not in the budget right now)

Also remember price reflects the cost of the lot, insurance, etc.
Our lots cost upwards around $800. And if we get 60-80 people at $20 a head that's $1200-1600. So we might make out with $400-800. Some of which goes to trophies at $4-10 a trophy. And figure 2-4 people get it per class. I think we figured we end up with $200-400 per event. not much.
