Default A TREE FELL ON MY EF!! DAM!! WHY ME!!

A tree fell on my EF!! I had this bad feeling that i should of never parked my car where i did.... This is many of the empty lots that are in my hood and i hate parking by them...but there was no parking when i got home and i was forced to park there :x It was a dead tree that fell on my car and crushed the back and top. There is know way to contact anybody to cover my damages to the car. I called the NYPD and there good for nothing !! they said they can't help me...."its a old car" they said... get a new one!!! so i got to come out my pockets now....and now im scared to park by trees!!!!

you can see the tree broken over the red garadge the guy u see is his garadge and fence that got tookin down.

THIS IS WHAT LANDED ON MY EF!!!

THIS IS WHERE IS BROKE FROM

OUCH! That sucks bro. The person that owns the property with the tree should be held liable. I know that my parent's next door neighbor had a tree fall on his carport and the person beside him was made to pay for the damages. Thats why they there is homeowners' insurance. I would persue it.

ah that'll buff right out...
seriously though, some hours of body work and it will be hard to tell.
definitely sue whoever owns the tree

Yup...you can do a property search online...i'm sure that the peope that came out to remove the tree weren't doing it for free and are likle going to charge the owners of the lot for it

cutting and trimming trees is a big responsiblity people who have trees dont think about but its crucial when nothings done people dont understand they want to grow i guess

I think it's funny the first thing on everyone's mind is taking someone to court, I mean maybe someone should take responsibility, I just found it interesting to see every comment say "sue that mthrfker".

Anyhow, the damages look repairable, the quarter panel questionable? The amount of work that would go into it probably wouldn't be worth the investment (unless you did the work yourself, but it'll require some tools...$$$). That quarter panel looks like it's been pushed in pretty far, the metal looks to have stretched pretty far and is definitely work hardened across those body lines and have created creases that may be very difficult to remove. Also, removing the rear windshield is probably kinda optional, but might be required. I'd fix it, but that's because I would DIY. Anyone else...I'd suggest finding a donor chassis.

can't sue them...not at first...find them (publis records) write a letter explaining what happened with pictures (video would be good too) and give them 3 business days to respond

It is funny that everyone says sue them. What amazes me in my industry of insurance is how little people really know about the law. In order to "sue" someone you first have to prove negligence. If you sent the property owner a letter prior to this that the tree had an issue then you might have something. Acts of God will not be covered as there is no negligence on the owner of the tree.

This is the reason for comprehensive. If you don't cover your own car then why should someone else? Obviously, you didn't think your car was worth it either.

Man, I in no way mean to sound irritating, and I know this is the cynical part of me talking, but I freaking wish that tree fell on my car instead of yours, it's been driving me crazy lately. transmissions fixing to break, vibrates like crazy, VTEC doesn't work, and the heaters not working.

Sorry needed to vent. Anything to get me in another car right now would be great.

So we have found out that acts of God wont be covered by insurance. Okay but someone still hast to take accountability for the dead tree that fell on this guys car. lol... well I would track the owner of the property down and do what everyone else is saying, let them know what happened and ask them to do something about it. Its called property management, thats why they have people in that line of work. What if a kid had been walking by and the tree fell on her? "well ya cant sue for acts of God"....far fetched I know but someone would/should still be liable. Let us know what happens. Curious.

If it makes you feel any better, at least you'll fix the damage and knock out the rust in a one-two punch

contact the person who's property the tree was on, sometimes their homeowners insurance will cover stuff like that. only problem is it might not cover you since your parking on the street, but a phone call cant hurt

if the tree was dead, it's not an act of god...it's negligence, like an unsafe building. a storm or hurricane is an act of god. that's my understanding of it. document everything, get a quote, consult an attorney and write the owner a letter asking for repair money.

Thanx for all your help people...i been so mad these last couple of days i didn't even want to look at a EF...what i did was everything you guys told me to...i when to the city...i got in contact with the owner...and i also got the phone slamed on my ear! All the city gave me was his number...so called him and told him "YOUR DEAD TREE FEEL ON MY CAR" he told me theres nothimg he can do and hung up the phone on me!! so im gonna have to try fix this myself then take him to small claims court because it under $5000. i went around looking for people to fix it and got different prices..here they are on order....the first price i got was....$1600
#2. was $700
#3. was $550
#4 was $350
#5. was $250
so i stoped at $250 and told the person i will see him on monday....i will take pics for you guys to see the shop and how my EF looks on monday....

"buy the way...that you know u own a EF if"....thread had me crying!!! aww man that was funny!!! and i only had the car 4 months now!!!

Well, that doesn't look too bad...especially in comparison to that beautiful panda CRX that got destroyed by a tree. Can anyone find that thread? I couldn't get it by searching.

Uh $250? Thats a bit on the really cheap side. With paint and body you get way you pay for usually. I guess it all really depends on what its worth to you though...
