Icon6 OBD1 DOHC ZC Into A 91 Civic/CRX

Ok, here's my situation.

I have a blown OBD0 DOHC ZC in my 91 Si.
I found a local engine dealer that has an OBD1 DOHC ZC

I want to put this motor in my car, but I wanna keep everything OBD0.

Can I use my first OBD0 setup as a donor for the OBD1 and use whatever wiring stuff(ECU, Distributor, etc) on the OBD1 motor??

Any info on what specifically is needed to make this work would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

yes, use the distributor, cylinder sensor, engine harness and injectors from the OBD0 engine - you will need to use the driver's side engine mount that bolts to the block from the OBD0 engine on the OBD1 engine - you will need to make a couple of minor wiring changes - the OBD0 engine has the cooling fan switch on the back of the block - on the OBD1 engine, it is on the thermostat housing - cut the connector off the OBD0 engine harness and cut the connector off the OBD1 engine harness and splice it onto the OBD0 engine harness - the MAP sensor on the OBD1 engine is on top of the throttle body - the OBD0 uses a firewall mounted MAP - just unplug the connector from the firewall map, extend the wires and plug it into the MAP on the throttle body - you can easily sell the OBD1 ZC distributor as nothing else fits the OBD1 DOHC ZC and lots of people are looking for them

You are the man.

I wanna buy you an E-Beer

Can I PM you if I have any other questions? You seem to know alot about this.

The motor I found is CLEAN. I've never seen a ZC look this minty fresh in my life. Even the hoses are super fresh.

Can I use the new intake manifold off of the OBD1 setup as well?

yes, you can use the OBD1 intake manifold - it accepts the larger B-series throttle bodies

Hmmm....I'm actually in the process of putting a DOHC ZC in my CRX right now, and I was told that the motor I was shipped is an OBD0. Didn't even realize you could find an OBD1 ZC.....How can I tell if the motor I have is OBD0 or OBD1? If all goes well, the motor should be going in tomorrow and I just want to know if I have to make any last minute changes before I drop it in.

you can tell it is an obd1 zc by looking at the position of the map sensor: if its on the top of the intake mani is obd1

Ok, now here is one more question before I go and pick up the motor.

Is there any advantage besides chipping if I go to OBD1?? If I stay OBD0, will the engine still perform at it's whopping 137 horses? lol!

If I stay OBD0 I won't have to worry about tracking down a distributor for the motor because the 89 integra one works, right?

Thanks guys! You been great!

no advantage in going to OBD1 unless you are going to boost it - OBD0 and OBD1 are the same horsepower - the OBD0 distributor is the same as the 88-89 Integra, TD03U - did you get PM from me?
