Ive seen it done a couple of times before but wasn't sure if it was really worth it to do. Obviously its going to help keep intake temps down initially, but once the intake gets up to temp will it have a lot harder time cooling down with the wrap on?

I doubt it would do much. Probably more for looks than anything.

And thanks for spelling "a lot" correctly, it drives me nuts when people spell it "alot"

 

Personally i dont really like the looks of it, it would be more for performance than anything... but yea "alot" annoys me too lol

heat wrap is to keep heat from dissipating to quickly so i really dont think it will do any good for the purpose of an intake

 

well it a matters is it a cai or a short intake i don't think it will do much on a cai but a short i might keep heat off of it but you a still going to suck up warm air

 

It also of course depends on the material of the pipe. Heat wrap typically assumes "metal" (typically aluminum), but plastic aftermarket intake systems for our cars do exist.

I don't know where I'm going with this. Back to bed.

(I think I'm trying to say it'd be about equivalent to the heat-dissipation properties of a plastic intake pipe.)

 

Heat wrap helps to trap heat in... I don't know why people think that it is a good idea to wrap anything but exhaust in it. It is good for exhaust because it helps the heat from radiating out into the e-bay and in FI apps, more heat=thermal efficiency=faster spool time... Anyways this is what you want:
