Default Accident damage?

Sooo this isnt to technical but random question. I got hit on monday, guys fault imo but that doesnt matter.

he hit the rear right of my car dented it in rather nicely. Have any of you guys had a situation where they want to total out your car? I'm hoping the actual cost value of mine is high since its mint aside from some fading on the hood.

If you know a way around this let me know.

its very hard to get around it... casue of the year of the car... mine got hit and the cost to repail the car was 1100 to fix and i got it out of the paint booth a month earlier...

the weird part is..the insurance gave me 1500 for my car...so why they payed more money to total it instead of fix is messed...

take into consideration what your insurance policy is..min coverage or max

So basically you got $1500 and were out one car? What a rip off, i'm not going through my insurance even though i have full coverage. I want his to pay for it since he is at fault imo and so far the adjuster feels the same way.

Thats kinda bs if i got hit and lose my car because of it. I just want it back to how it was.

I'm so gonna egg that old mans house if this transpires (yessss back to 5th grade)

haha let me know ill come up for the eggin..
yea well i didnt have full coverage...
i also made the mistake of not pressing the charges of him hitting me...so thats aswell another factor..
if he is at fault and the police have the report saying that he is at fault his insurance more that likly will cover it

here how an insurance company decides to repair a car. they llok at total cost of repairs to total value of the vehicle. in some cases like urs where they gave u 1500 bucks even when the repairs were less and that were the term threshold comes in. when an estimate is wriiten it automatically determins a percentage of vehicle threshold. yea the it cost only 1100 to fix it but i guarentee it was over its threshold in the repair estimate. not to mention its pretty damn hard to come by body panels for our cars now adays. hope this gives u a lil bitof understanding

took it to one body shop and he thinks they are going to total it out.

But i guess if i win AAA said they will fight to do whatever i want.

I'm almost leaning towards maybe them paying me like 3k and buying it back then saving for something else.

My question is.... have any of you seen a crx sell for over 3k lately? I wanna get some ammo built up incase they want to do blue book.

welll AAA said they'd give me actual market value so yeah. I'm going to try to get them to replace the fender (other guys insurance) which is 3k. Then just buy another crx and commute this one. Thanks guys.

state of California requires them to give you replacement cost. Not KBB. They have a company that researches comparable cars for sale in the area and they give you the average of those.
