Humphreys, sport compact racers headed for Puerto Rico race
A delegation of 16 Sport Compact racers from the U.S will compete against a Puerto Rican contingent in a heads up battle. Import Revolution 2008 will take place Nov. 29-30 at Carolinas Race Way in Carolinas, Puerto Rico.
The event, put together by Lucimar Racing and Race Connection, will feature 2007 NHRA Sport Compact Modified champ and current Outlaw 10.5 stand out Brent Rau, 2006 NHRA Sport Compact Modified champ Ken Scheepers, 2005 NHRA Sport Compact Modified champ and current NHRA Pro Stock driver Justin Humphreys, NHRA Sport Compact Modified driver Dee Karagianis, NHRA Sport Compact Modified driver Luis Corujo and 11 other teams for the U.S.
Any size turbo, any power adder, and any weight will be allowed.
Rumors are that the cars will remain in Puerto Rico through June of 2009 to compete in a monthly series. Negotiations are underway and, with a possible sponsor in place, this could be the answer some of the teams have been asking about where to race in ‘09. While the Sport Compact series hasn’t done so well in the States, the smaller cars are very popular on the island.
