my friend is doing a b16 swap in a 97 civic.. he has a dx harness and a ex automatic harness.. can he use the automatic harness or will it not work being in a 5 speed car?? thank you

 

You can use either one so long as they are both from a '96 - '98 civic, both will require some modifications.

 

I believe (not 100% sure) but you will still need a 2wire style plug for the IACV because the the automatics still used a 3 wire like the non vtec motors do. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

 

Automatic Y8s and all Y7s use the 3 wire plugs, everything else I can think of is 2 wire. What it comes down to is this:

Automatic EX harness:
-rewire IACV
-rewire backup lights
-extend misc connectors to reach their respective sensors

Manual CX/DX harness
-rewire IACV
-add vtec wiring
-extend misc connectors to reach their respective sensors
