Default bought a gixxer

i've joined the ranks of the squids, and bought an '05 gsxr 600. it was a deal i couldn't pass up... although it will need a bit of work before it is rideable. gonna be track only, as it only came with a bill of sale. the bike was a theft recovery.

if you're only using it for track duty that's very unsquid-like...05' gsxrs are great track machines...what does it need? how much did you pay? and what mods are in the worx?

so far i've figured it needs gauges, rear subframe, fairing stay, plastics, seat, coolant resovior, muffler, and a battery. as for mods, we'll see... probably just frame sliders and case guards. whoever had it before put on a power commander and a 1/4 turn throttle.

got the beast running today... something with the power commander was preventing the bike from running.

Making progress... Cool.

Did you check the frame for cracks?

All you need now is a flat billed Famous hat for head protection and an Affliction t-shirt to prevent road rash and you'll fit right in in IL.

a visual inspection showed nothing of note. all the welds and frame corners look nearly new.

there are some scrapes on the pegs and case covers from what look like slow low-sides... but nothing that i'm going to worry about. i rode it around my neighborhood this past weekend and everything feels straight and tight.

the chain still needs to be replaced and i've got some frame sliders coming sometime this week. still need to deal with that panel gap and (maybe) paint it.

That looks like my kind of project. Although I've never done it, I don't know that I would buy a bike Bill of Sale only.
