Default Skunk2 Stage 1 Cam Users!!

What's your Vtec X-over point with this? What's recommended? I know that the Stock VTEC X-over point is too low for these cams...

What is your setting and how many degrees did you time your exhaust and intake side?

well, the instructions that cam with the cams said 0,2 on the gears and raise the fuel pressure about 3-5 psi.

on the vafc i just leaned out the top end just a hair . from the vtec x-over to redline to -2%

i hope to get dyno'd soon and see how well i did without dyno tuning

its 6am here and i was trying to go to sleep but i read this post earlier and there is one thing that is driving me crazy...why would you reduce the amount of fuel going into the cylinder at the time when the most air is entering the cylinder, shouldent more valve life and air be met with more fuel?..how could leaning it out be a good thing? dosent it say to "increase fuel preasure"? please answer this...im losing sleep here

i was told by the local dyno tuner here that ur supposed to lean the fuel on the top end for aftermarket cams. i tried other setting, but the car felt slightly slower, especially when i richen it a tad.

you always want more fuel at the top-end, it can help save your motor when ypou hit the rev limiter.

I believe 5700-5800 is recommended for these cams. Spoon ecu chip will work well too. I was chatting with Katman recently and he told me that these Stage 1 cams have near identical specs compared to the Spoon cams....just a little information tidbit FY.

ok. Just got back from the shop and we checked it out and it wasn't off a tooth. It was Straight. So that's not the problem...

I kicked up the Vtec X-over point to 5700rpm and its a bit better.

I can feel my car pull better from 3000rpm - 5700rpm compared to my stock cams, but in Vtec, it just kind's of hesitates. Not by alot, but it doesn't shoot up like its suppose to. We're gonna try to get an FPR in and up the Pressure on Monday and see if it pulls in Vtec like its suppose to.

Cam gears are still at 0, 0 but we might try +2 and -2 and see if its any better. Crossing finger* Hope it works and runs strong when its done.

After the FPR and if it STILL doesn't solve the problem, we're gonna take apart the motor and check closely again. Anyone know what the problem might be? Any tips or tidbits you guys wanna share?

Mines set at 5300, with no dip in power at all. I'm using Hondata, tuned by IB, and most recently DSR(yesterday actually).

Goddamnit!!! We installed the FPR and kicked up the pressure, but still has the same freakin problem!
Chris at Diablo Autoshop is checkin it out again right now.

Anyone know what the problem can be? The teeth are all lined up (Cam gears) and we added the FPR and guage, and now we're checkin the cam installation again...

Its just lagging in Vtec. Someone help...

On my setup with these cams, I have tried between 5300-5700..
With a higher vtec setting of 5700, vtec seems to kick in very hard..
When I set it at 5300, it seems to have a dip in power and lags upto 5600 when it starts to rip..
I just set my vtec to 5700.. Its just funner to hear and feel the unexpected surge of power..

At the time of the dyno I was using 68 tapered to 66mm.
However because of idle issues with that TB, I'm now switching to a ported gsr 65-64mm.

it feels chitty because you are still running a stock gs-r intake manifold.

He said he's running the skunk2 and a hondata 2 which means he has to be OBDI doesn't it?

Edit:Skunk2 intake manifold is what I ment...
