hey peeps, my gf just bought a prelude recently and we were looking at it and i noticed some little small factory fog lights on the front lower portion of the bumper, they are stanley brand (oem) so i didn't think much about it, then i was looking on ebay and they want anywhere from 190-450 a set for these??? why so expensive, are they jdm because surely if they came on every prelude they would be cheaper right?

so my question is, is the foglights a jdm thing or is it a factory usdm thing?

 

I haven't seen a USDM Prelude (since 1991) that came with fog lights from the factory. Don't know about those ugly 4th gen ludes :-), but with 5th gens, there are 2 types of fogs. USDM fogs are circular, and JDM fogs are rectangular (they look like an extra set of blinkers).

 

If they're clear, they're USDM fog lights, if they're yellow they're JDM.
I have JDM ones and they're quite nice but average price for them on ebay is roughly ~$150 for clears and $200 for yellow ones shipped. Never seen them for $450 and if there's a pair selling that high, I'm sure they'll never sell.

 

Fog lights were an option on both the 4gen and 5gen preludes here in the US, but weren't very common. That's why they're so expensive now, but I've never seen them more than around 200.

For 4gen ludes, if they're clear, they can be either USDM or JDM, and I don't believe there's a way to tell the difference. If they're yellow, they're JDM as they were only available in Japan.

For 5gen ludes, like Kronn said, circular are USDM and square are JDM. I'm not sure if they had yellow 5gen fog lights.

Anyways my bad, its a 93 model, forgot to mention that, and they have the clear lenses, so i guess were not as lucky as we thought, but the reason i was searching is because those lens were cracked, but yea check this out, here is the link to the 400+ dollar fog lights, maybe its because its a kit.

But i guess that don't matter because i just noticed that was for a bb6, bb5, which (still learning the prelude lingo) hers is a bb4.
