You'll most likely melt the housings.
Although HID's draw less watts (from the car's electrical system) the bulbs (emitters) do run hotter. That's why you often see warranty disclaimers on aftermarket projector lamps with regards to HID usage.

thanks for the input. The lense is glass and the housing on them is metal tho so idk if they will melt from the HIDs. i dont think i can put HIDs in these fog lights anyway. its all sealed and got to take everything apart to get to the bulbs. well i guess i got a HID kit for sale now

I'd assume they're all the same basic build. Remove them from the bumper and then turn them on the bottom - should be 3 small phillips screws. Undo those and you can get access to the bulbs and the wiring.

For the wiring it's a rubber grommet. You should be good. When I get my kit I'll see if I can take pictures.

I had trouble with mine too, my best suggestion is get a good screwdriver for it - you need one that fits perfectly in there otherwise they'll just strip

yeah i got one that fit perfect and used alot of PB blaster and it still ended up striping. the metal is rusted and too soft. so im just going to have to get new screws. i wish i could have just got these out. i got two screws out of one and one screw out of the other. others are stuck.

Ya for sure post a picture of that!! It was a thought for me but never made it a reality.. I have two pairs of Stanley fog lights, one yellow and the other white/clear.

Got a source to back that up about the HID capsules running hotter than halogen? I'm pretty sure they do in fact run cooler than 55W halogen bulbs. My headlight housings don't get nearly as hot w/ my HID retrofit as they did w/ stock 55W 9006 bulbs.

Like Patrick just stated.

These bulbs do run hot, but they don't melt metal.

You can fire up an HID projector for hours, and yet you can hold the projector without burning yourself.

I still need to hit up your shop to say hello

I'm still tossing around retrofitting my headlights.

HID capsules do indeed burn cooler than 55w halogen. melting will not be your issue, however glare will be.
