Testing Waters: HUGE Type R meet in ATL = food, fun and over $1000 in giveaways!!!
Ok Im testing to see how much interest this will really bring. As you know Sean (Cosworth) has already posted about the ATL-ITR-Honda-tech meet. Well I talked to my owner about having the meet here at my dealership. Partly because we just finished our renovation and the dealership looks awesome. Also our store is #1 in sales and service in Georgia and #5 in the nation in customer satisfaction...so I figured my owner/GM would go for it. But nothing is 100% a go right this sec. Thats why I need to see who would actually come.
The ITR meet would be here at my Acura dealership (Baranco Acura) in Morrow, Ga just south of Hartsfield Airport. We would be have lots of giveaways during the day...such things as Type R Accessories (fog lights, floormats, CD Changer, Security system, oil caps, car covers, wheel locks, nose masks, battery tie downs, hats, shirts etc etc), plus we would give out maintence stuff such as timing belts, fuel filters, oil filters, etc etc.
We would also have a cook out with BBQ, hambugers, hot dogs, the whole 9. You can also have your car serviced or aftermarket parts put on while you are here. We will have techs available to do your install or maintence at a discounted rate. You can even stay with your car while its worked on.
All parts will be at the honda-tech discounted rate.
The day would have to be a Saturday of course. From maybe 10am until 6pm. Lots of places to park. It would be like a little Type R car show. Plus if anyone happens to be in the market for a new car, by all means, test drives will be allowed and great pricing offered.
I just need to see how big this would/could be. How many would seriously come. Should I invite others (RSX, GS-R's?) Or will we have enough with Type Rs. I would like to make this a Type R thing as like the NSX club does and the S2000 guys. But all is welcome to come and hang out...but Not sure just how much room I will have for the cars to park and be displayed. Obviously by having all the R's in the parking lot it will create traffic for our sales department for the day...which is a good thing.
Please let me know. Also please tell dates that would work for you. End of August? Early Sept? October even? I might even try to get some high ranked Acura reps to join in and field those all so great questions like "whens the RSX-R coming here?"
Hell maybe they can arrange Peter Cunningham to drop by since he does promotional stuff like that every so often. Who knows.
Thanks everyone.

We did ATL already. You're a cool guy and all, but sleeping arrangements in ATL suck ***
We'd have to work that out in advance for the out of towners

Well I had no part in the sleeping arangements for the last event, but for those who would be coming from far away I could get names and numbers of plenty of hotels very close by. And im sure some of us could house a few with definite committments (Me, Sean, Ken, Len, Shane, Jeff, others??) chime in if you could house any people and I'll get hotels phone numbers for people who would consider staying in one.
The last meet was ok...too much confusion and what was planned to do. Im looking to make this a HUGE ITR deal....I guess kinda like an EXPO, but no track event...I dont want to even attempt that one. Just a cool gathering with food and prices and a nice turn out. After 6pm people are free to hang out, hit the town, go home or whatever!

This gets my approval.
Giving parts away huh?
I'm just teasing...
Len, who can house about 5 or 6 people. No crackheads, gangsters, pranksters, allowed since my parents would have a fit.

he wasn't blaming you TJ. I can't sleep at Pat's again due to his log cabin building antics while he's sleeping
but other than that..
I'll go if I get a free timing belt or water pump or tbelt tensioner.. lol

Sounds like a great idea TJ! Count me in...however I think the wife would kill me if I let any of you foos especially the NC/FL boys!
near our place, heheh.
I'd like to see it remain ITRs, however if we cant get enough I think all Acuras would be cool. The giveaways sounds great, Im a loser with any merchandise Honda/Acura/ITR related...

Oh, I know he wasnt blaming me...I was just trying to assure him that if he did plan to come that we would make concrete sleeping arrangements for those who need it.
Trending Topics
TJ - That sounds awesome! I'm glad that Mr. Baranco feels that it's not a bad deal for the dealership.
You know I would help you organize the deal and all.
Marc - The sleeping arrangement was my fault last time. Also, it didn't help that ATL people flaked on housing people due to various reasons. But, I know I can house 1 person for sure this time as I'll be moving out w/ a couple of friends of mine. If that doesn't work out, I'm willing to put people at motels with money coming out of my pocket.
My vote: Late August... 24th or 31st. But, if that doesn't work any time if good for me.

Sounds good to me. I'm free most weekends and I have the ablility to sleep in my car if nessecary.
Yeah, I would definately be up for another ATL meet. I am sure i could make any date you guys pick, sounds like a good idea having it at the dealership with food and stuff
One mor thing. I think depending on the turn-out, ITR's should be given priority on parking slots at the dealership, so we could at least stick to the ITR meet theme (and have an excuse for the GM/owner to let us use their lot.)
I can think of at least 15 typeR's in northern GA alone. I should be a cake to have at least 20 ITR's if neighboring states can participate.
So, roll call:
1. ken
2. tj
3. jeff
4. stephen
5. jason w.
6. sean
7. eric
8. jason from vtec.atl
9. adam from vtec.atl
10. jeremy from vtec.atl
11. other CW ITR from vtec.atl
12. ben c from athens
13. ryan from marietta
14. rick from marietta
15. seth from decatur
+ I know at least 10 other ITR's from AL, NC, FL, TN & SC.
Let's get this going... it'll be fun day for ITR owners to kick back and have some service done (where lifts are at our disposal).

I know of atleast one TypeR turbo, and probably atleast two other gs-r owners who would be interested once a date is nailed down.

Hay everyone! i just got the message to come on in here and see what this is all about. This sounds totally awesome! I would really like to come! Someone posted a CW ITR from vta, I think that I am the only one, but I might be wrong, I know that we got a few but I might be the only CW

hey typergirl i just moved to louisiana from lawrenceville and i saw that is where you are from and i was wondering what school you went to
You can take Ryan (YellowITR01) of your list cuz he's gonna be dead if he doesn't come see me on Friday.
Len, thats some funny chit!
Everyone is welcome to come. And please bring as many ITR owners as possible.
Once a date is set then we can work on sleeping arrangements for those who need them.
Maybe one of the bigger prizes will be up for grabs for whoever travelled the farthest to make the meet.
Oh and Sean, it was MRS Baranco who is letting this happen.
She is owner/GM...Mr. Baranco runs the Pontiac/Buick/GMC store in Lilburn.

I know this MAY be pushing it, but you think its worth even looking into having a mobil dyno come to the meet for those who want to do some pulls? Or even for those who may have something installed (ie header) and then do some pulls to see what it gained. Maybe I could work out a good price for runs with my dealer taking up some of the slack.
Also, what about iniviting NSX owners as well? Getting way too far off course? Or cool idea? I could have Acura pull me a list of all NSX owners in GA and I could call/write and see who would come.

well this sounds like a great idea!! i'm down, so lets pick a date... the 23,24, and 25 of aug is the vir event so there will be several itr's (my self included) that will be there so the end of aug might not be the best weekend. i'd love to drive over to atl and meet up with everyone!!!
