How can I find year of motor on b20b?

I need to get the check engine light off my b20b but dont know where to find the year of motor. I have someone with a scanner but he is asking for the year? help!

if the engine is still in the vehicle it came in, then just look at the 10th digit in the vin #.

it also says it on the head, but the exaust manifold heat shield is prob in the way. It's in the round circles. Hour/day/month/year
