i might buy a 95 civic with 174,000 mi on it mostly highway. kinda sceptable on the mi and stuff, but since it honda it will last but i wanna have it not die out on me after a while. the guy says he's maintained it and has done his oil change when needed and he says theres been no mechanical problems that he knows of. it's fro a private seller by the way so it's not a dealer telling me this. so what i wanna know is how much would it take to rebuild a 95 civic ex engine? how much mileage would it take away? i know the damn spedometer gonna still say 174,000 + but ya know. i need to know cause i don't wanna buy this car then have to spend a whole lot more money jsut to fix it when i could just buy a dif car.

*also note* if you see othe posts on cars on this board rom me it's cause my friends want me o ask questions cause they need help with their hondas and stuff* so i'm not gettin or planning on getting these cars. lol. but this one i am!!! cause it real cheap!!! aslo what would you price it at? it's pretty much stock.

 

cheaper to just buy a used motor w/ less mileage.

instead of rebuilding it...just swap whatever u can with new to good used parts. and at the same time u can get some performance parts in there...

 

I was quoted $2400 for a build to handle up to 12psi of boost and $3400 to handle 12psi+ of boost. Motor was a D16Z6...SOHC VTEC.
