I have a stock CRX DX that seems to run better when the tank is below half full. It also seems to get better mileage if I run it close to empty. Before anyone says of course I will get more miles the longer I run it, it gets in the neighborhood of 27 when I run it low and closer to 22 when I fill it up at half empty; it also gets 42 on the highway. I think someone dented the tank at some point so I can't run it near the "E" line or I run out of gas. It also goes from half to empty much faster than full to half. If any of this makes sense please let me know any and all opinions. I used to be a mechanic and it stumps me.
I read that a couple times and I don't really understand the part where you say you can't run it close to empty because you suspect somebody dented your gas tank but you said you get better gas mileage when you run it close to empty?
As for the gas gauge going from half-empty faster than full-half, that's how my DX Sedan was too.
