Midwest National Prelude Meet '09
Yes I know this is a meet thread but it only pertains to Prelude owners in the Midwest area, If this should be in the meets section mods please move this to the Midwest section. Thanks.

Trying to keep this first post updated with any information that arises.
Let me start by saying thanks for any help by any member in this. A little help goes a LONG way. Thanks to ANYONE who is helping in ANY way.
Frosty and I's trip to Autobahn today went really well. The people that run the place are super nice and very helpful. Here is a map of the track, we'd be using the north track (easier, better flowing for novice drivers)

They have centers around the track that are occupied by people with radio sets informing the center and EMT's etc. of everything going on at the track

With every track rental you get half a paddock for whatever you'd like to use it for, like testing members brakes (0-40-0) even setting up an auto-x course. We'd also get a room above a garage space (also included)
Building

Room pictures (usually set up like a classroom)

Overlooking the track

Garage space

They also offer a tech center (free if I remember correctly) for us to check over each members cars to see if everything on our cars is up to taking on the track (brakes, fresh fluids, lugs tight, seatbelts etc.). We would have to supply our own tech guys (which we're all looking into).

If everyone wants they offer a lunch buffet for everyone at $10 a head in this following room and they also said if we wanted to pull a couple of cars in there while we eat that would be fine too. It's a much better alternative than everyone paying their personal chef to cook what they want.

And here's the "lounge" (I guess)

As for required riding equipment you need a SNELL approved helmet (they offer rentals for 30 and you can buy entry levels for 65+ship) long pants and shirts and closed toe shoes. Weekends are filling up really fast by larger race oriented groups, are much more expensive and are usually done with two days rented. I suggest we do a Monday BUT have that be the last day of our meet. Have people come out for a meet and greet on Saturday, hang out do whatever, Sunday be our BBQ and cruise day (maybe go to a drag strip in the same area depending if it's an open day) and lude1990 suggested us trying to find a shop to do a DYNO day on the Sunday (looking into that $ and availability) with the last day being our track day, Monday. This way it's less $$$ for us and people won't have to take too much time off work. I don't want to hear "oh I won't be able to get that time off" because it's not like this is two weeks away it's MONTHS so tell your damn boss now if it may be that big of a problem. We're also pushing this back to mid August (8th, 9th and 10th). This way everyone has PLENTY of time to get money together to pay for this and finish anything they may be doing to their Preludes. I also don't want to hear how it may be too hot because you can have an equally hot or mild day from May through August. I've been asking for everyone to give opinions and everyone just seems to bitch and say we need to get more organized so since I and a few others are doing most of the work then we will be getting organized and planning everything instead of waiting around for everyone to agree on everything, because it ain't gonna happen. We need to know how many people plan on coming so TELL US NOW and get everyone you may think will come to decide and tell us ASAP. We need to reserve these dates and we need those dates to help out hotels for our prices. Please put if you want to go on the track or not so that we can get the exact number of people that are coming, that way we can split the cost evenly. NO SLACKING ON THIS GUYS!!!! We dont need to be picking up for someone flaking out on this. There will be a deposit that will be put down for the track that is NON REFUNDABLE and is 1/4 the total cost of the track. One hotel (knights inn with gas station attatched) gave us a price of 49.99 a night for a two bedroom. It's right off the freeway by autobahn and if you're traveling with a buddy you shouldn't mind sharing a room to cut costs yes? There are two more Frosty is going to check out tomorrow and get back to us all. I'm trying to get all the CPC.com guys to go down on a Thursday or Friday for a free lunch buffet they have so more people can see the track. If anyone has any questions or comments post here (duh lol) and if you plan on going PM ME so I don't miss anyone. When you do this it is like you are committed to a group buy and you are responsible for your share of the track rental. I will start a list on the front page and we need to get this together as soon as possible with a down payment to hold the track. Frosty has a copy of the pricing so I'll get that from him and post it to the first page along with this.

Autobahn is in Chicago and this is where it is going to be centered around.
Here a link to the track.

Hi!
I'm not quite sure if I'm sending this to the right inbox but I have a quick question about your event coverage to whoever this should be sent to. I'm organizing a Midwest National Prelude Meet Day for '09. I'm trying to do separate meets per area of the country so there will be a better turnout for people of each region. We have most of the information worked out, such as: track day/drag day, bbq and show day. I was wondering what we would need to do to get some event coverage from you guys. I'm working in collaboration with www.Chicagolandpreludeclub.com and www.ohpoc.com (ohpoc-ohio prelude owners club, they actually planned this years National Prelude Meet) and a few other regional Prelude sites to get the biggest turnout, best organization and to plan the most fun us prelude guys can gum up. I know people from www.Preludepower.com have contacted you to do an article on 3rd gens but all I'm asking is how and if we could get coverage on this. It would be something different than the general honda meets and would show just how dedicated we are to the bastard child of the honda community. Thank you for your time and any information will be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks again,
Ian

Hi Ian,
Honda Tuning is always interested in event coverage. Thank you for giving us the heads-up on this. Please forward me all event details as soon as you have them sorted out. Of course, we’ll ultimately need to know the specifics, but if you’ve got an approximate location and date set, as well as how many attendees there will be, let us know. Once we have that information we can work out the specifics.

I went to NPM 06 in St.Louis.. good time. Chicago? That would be fun. Kansas City would be ideal for people to drive being in Midwest.. we might get those Denver guys to drive to KC. I can't wait. NPM 09~
Chicago area would be fun too. It's going to be difficult to get a lot of those guys to drive that far though. I'm down & willing.. Chicago is a great city to visit anytime.. The food & nightlife alone is worth the visit. But most of us - Neb, Iowa, KC.. looking at 7-10hr drive. I'm going regardless. Lets go.

Maybe this in stl? Alot of hotels nearby...Plenty of places to go/eat/drink.. especially in the sulard area which is close to the track
thats just a thought/idea

NPM 06 was in STL, At Gateway----- It's a nice track, & a good time, but I think Chicago is a better choice... It would be nice for something different, and be more of a trip/vacation for a lot of people. I mean, how often do we get to visit Chicago!?
If you're from further out west sign up for preludepower and PM a user named lude1990. He's organizing a caravan to run from out west to Chicago. He'll fill you guys in on everything. We have a pretty decent number of people planning on attending, around 55 or so, but the more the better.
Hi everyone Ive browsed honda tech alot but I jus joined the site. If you live in nebraska, iowa, kansas, ETC. you can get ahold me and Ill fill you all in on what is going on. If you have any ?'s fill me to pm me anytime. If you in the midwest PM me also. Thx again.
