hydrolocked motor
I think I just hydrolocked my motor a little while ago. My car is lowered 1.5" w/ H and R sports and AEM cold air...the water was at the middle of my rim...by the H center caps...it shut down and wont do anything now. I am putting the stock airbox back on before I get anyone to look at it...Does anyone know what to do a/b insurance can i get $ from this??? Help me i dont know what to do? I may have to get a new car.??? thanks alot!!!
as soon as i hit it it stalled and we had to push it to get it out of the water...i didnt have time to coast through...i was in 1st gear not giving hardly any gas at all.
With the stock airbox on there, comprehesive insurance should cover it... An acquaintance of mine got a brank new Honda crate H22A from insurance when he hydrolocked his Type SH.

Aklucsarits...thanks for the input man...i wanted your wheels...my roommate here at school is from there but he doesnt make it home to often...got anymore details a/b your friends situation w/ the SH?
Take out the spark plugs and crank the motor over. Look for water coming out the spark plug holes. If you clear it out, you may not have done any damage.

Dam, the water was only up to ur centercaps and it hydrolocked? I thought the AEM and to be almost fully submerged b4 it happens?
Come on has nobody else had any other experiences w/ this.??
Most of the time the kids that hydrolock do what you do. Throw the stock airbox on and play dumb. It comes down to your insurance adjuster. If he buys the whole "Not one part of my car is stock except for the airbox which magically sucked in water" bit you are good to go.
If not, you are fucked. You pay for it, your rates go through the roof, and sometimes, they provide the vaseline for the **** pounding you pay to have the **** fixed.
Have fun.
What would be the best thing to do if you do find yourself with the filter submerged? Say you're driving and get stuck in a puddle or a flash flood or something. Turn the car off, push it out, remove filter?
I doubt I have to worry about this as I live in SoCal, but it'd be good to know.

Yea but my only other mod is H and R sports lowering my car a/b 1 inch...not to noticeable in my opinion...maybe i will be ok.
you mite as well save up for a new motor you prolly dont see it but you prolly have a hole in your block bout the size of your fist. sucking in that much water is like shooting a 357 magnum at your block. and all your rods are prolly all snaped and your sleeves are prolly scared up. try taking your headers off and let me know if you see a big hole through the block. mite as well sell your head and tranny to get some money to buy a new motor.
trust me! i know happns all the time THATS WHY I SAY *** AEM.
