Default 1997 accord exhaust

my 97 accord LX is going to need wn exhaust rear section soon. is the honda EX exhaust any better. i havent seen an aftermarket system that is'nt too loud or has a big can sticking out the butt. i was thinking a header with the EX system might give me some performace with not too much noise. Suggestions?

Well, that's the choices you've got. Either a loud "Rice can" trumpet that will attract every "Man in Blue" in your town or a "Big Can muffler sticking out the back.

My "Big Can" system has stood me very well over the last several years.

It adds to the back of the car quite nicely, and I can actually hear both myself AND my audio system as well.

Oh... and the addition of a header will make the noise issue only more so with a Glass Pack style system.

I would stay with an OEM EX. Looks better and dosen't make any sound.

I am also a big fan of the uber quiet OEM Dual Tip look.

If I were you, I'd look into the '02-'05 Civic SI Muffler and have a flange welded on at a local muffler shop to fit the Accord. It will give you a deeper tone at idle and next to no sound while in motion. It looks good and you can score one cheap.

I am using the 07 SI rear section and muffler, I love the tone at idle and specially when
the H22a hits VTEC..................
