I know how much you folks in here loathe change of any kind, so you might as well acquaint yourselves with what's going on.

I'll be at work, shut HT down. LOL.

Will the saved IM in notepad still be there?

The final drop in the waterfall effect by IB is just down stream. Look for a flat stale pond later tonight.

They're trying to make sure that things you have stored in Notepad get transferred.

But there is *no* way to transfer the 7 day PM history, so you need to take note of anything important.

I was against it but there isn't anything to be done about it. They own the site and they own vBulletin and it just seems logical to them.

It's VERY apparently, they don't listen to their users, regardless of "status" here.

Hey, that's ok... they, in the end will be the ones loosing the money.

Plus, a lot more advertisement plug ins, ad scalability, and SEO tools.

I think there is a chance that advertising revenue is going down anyway. We cannot be too far from the time that people realise that the clicks, in this economy, are not adding up to extra sales.

If this change does lead to the eventual death of Honda-Tech, I can only imagine what kind of effects it would have on the Honda tuning scene as a whole.

I kinda disagree. This site has more information on it then any other honda dedicated site. The userbase is huge and many of todays trends and tech in the Honda scene start here or the very least are spread to everyone else through here.

I would never have driven a Honda or known as much as I do about cars if it weren't due to this site. Tech wise it is helpful to every make. I have know people that come here instead of forums for their make because the general knowledge of motor building and concepts and turboing and everything in between is so much better here and so well documented.

Registered userbase is decently sized. Active userbase is small.

When I run into people that have a modified or whatever Honda, only a small percentage of them actively post or even browse this site. Thats not just local people, but people I've met when traveling and also when doing DE's.

I'd never have bought a DC2 ITR or set one foot on the track if Honda-Tech hadn't led me there.

Since we're getting all emotional... I wouldn't have a Type-R if it weren't for this place.

I wouldn't have any interest in tracking my car if it wasn't for H-T.

What I'm trying to say is its not like the Honda "scene" is going to cease to exist/get sucked into a black hole/diminish/etc.

I wish I had the means to backup all of the FAQ's. Not the links themselves, but the actual theads in there for safe keeping and later on down the road.

Of course not, but it won't be the same. This site has had such a huge impact on the scene overall. I have plenty of friends that are into hondas that very rarely come on this site too. There love of hondas came from magazines, many of which the Honda features are members from here or their builds were influenced by others on here. I guess what I'm saying is most people/the scene are impacted by this site if not directly, then indirectly.

If anything it will slow the pace down and info may be spread a tad slower until another site comes to the horizon to take over.

But then again this is all hypotheticals because the user base is still so big that it would be quite some time until it took a big enough hit to shut down for good.
