I just did a timing belt on a my 90 civic . I replaced plugs and wires , it does have spark , and i can not get it to fire , i know its getting fuel as well because i can smell it and the plugs are wet . It just wont fire and im trying to avoid a trip to the local rental to rent a car dolly just to pay a tech to fix it .... any insight ?

 

did you check for spark by plulling a wire off? and did you make the motor TDC before the belt swap?

 

yea i did , actually the first time it was a little off on the timing , so i retimed it , and now i can at least smell exhaust rather than just gas , so it must be firing a little but it does not sound like it . and a checked spark on all 4 wires .

 

i actually got it started now . It does run and move but not very well at all . it is miss firing so much that it barely moves but it does move !

 

are all the plug wires in the right place on the distributor

 

x2....make sure they are.
