Default Widest wheel/tire without LTL steering issues?

Right now I'm running 14x6 with 195/60 tires, and would like to upgrade to 15x8 wheels with 225/50 tires to fit over 11" brakes. Really, I wanted 15x9's but looks like it's hard to find tires for 15's that wide. I'd like to know anyone else is running 8" wide wheels with 225/50 tires and if so, what rubbing issues do you have and do you have problems steering from lock to lock(as in not needing steering stops)?

Thanks, Kevin.

Im running 16X7's with 205 tires and there isn't much clearance between the sidewalls up front and the knuckle (i can't really fit my fingertip between the two), but i don't know about 225's fitting

I'm looking to fit some 15x8 +15 all around. I'm thinking 205's will be good, anybody running something similar?

Are you going for looks or maximum contact/squared shoulder? Reason why I'm thinking 225 is because those were the only tires that I found that were recommended for for 8" wide wheels. I couldn't find anything wider for 15's and 8" was pretty much the recommended max for that width tires. I'm pretty sure running a 205 would help but that would defeat the purpose of getting 8" wide wheels to begin with. If 205's work best, I'll probably get 7 or 7.5" wide wheels instead.

you can safely put 215 on a 7" wheel, i have seen 225's on a wider wheel, but you are risking rubbing on the strut. all this is with a stock backspacing.

Yeah I just saw that earlier. It says the /45 profile tires will fit but say nothing about the /50 profile(which are more common). I don't think they have much info on the 88-91 Civic/CRX's since they deal with mainly Miatas; I was hoping there was someone here who's running them could give me some feedback. Anyways, I'll still give them a call or shoot them an email.

Also, I don't mind having to roll the fenders but I'm more worried about the fronts because of the knuckles and the inner fender well.

use a tyre diameter calculator to keep the overall diameter the same.

45 profile on a 225 width tyre is about the same height as 50 profile on a 195 width tyre
