My RR (passenger side rear) Tokico Illumina strut is toast. Found a nice burr in the rod which I'm guessing destroyed the top seal. Tokico's warranty is void if any damage to that rod. Can anyone recommend somewhere to get this thing repaired/rebuild?
Unless you know someone who can:
Completely disassemble the shock
Weld up the shaft
Grind/file and polish the shaft
Replace the damaged seal
And reassemble the shock
NO
If Tokico doesn't offer a rebuild kit, where are you going to get what's needed?

I wasn't asking for someone local. Looking for a website or company I can send it to that can rebuild it for less than I'm looking at for a new set of rear shocks (seeing as they don't seem to sell them individually).
Anyone? The alternative is $220 for a new set

try tokico... Im pretty shure they can fix it... I have a bent strut from tein... and it's gonna be about 150 dollars to fix it... since the warranty's void.. then that means you can get it fixed by them but you'll have to pay them now.
I know of no one locally or on the Internet which offers rebuilding services.
Besides, The Shock / Strut has to be designed to be disassembled and rebuilt.
Maybe if you ask real nice, Tokico will part with one for you.
Heck, KYB (AGX) offers them either singly, as an axle set or as a full set.
How much didi these set you back anyway?

there is a shop close to me in Moncton, NB Canada that rebuilds shocks for the racing community. I know we pay around 400 per shock to have it build to spec. As for repairing, not sure what it would cost to have it shipped, rebuilt, and reshipped with Customs involved. I would honestly say to just bite the bullit and buy a new set.
