ok so this is actually my brothers civic stock 96 ex d16y8. it was running fine two days ago then yesterday he goes to start it and it will crank but not start. you can smell gas so i dont think its a fuel problem but what could it be?


ooh yeah two days ago when it was still running he ran the car dry i had to bring him gas b/c he ran out, could he of sucked something up from the bottom of the tank?

 

check engine come on? check the codes and your dizzy

 

is the car getting spark?

 

How much gas is in the vehicle? Also, running a car out of gas is hard on the fuel pump.

 

there is no CEL, ill check for a spark, there is half a tank in the car now. I know its hard on the fuel pump but the car seemed to be running fine right after it ran out of gas then yesterday it just wouldn't start. and if he messed up the fuel pump why do i smell gas when we try to start it.

 

could loose plugs cause it?
