In the case of that Nismo Fairlady, they take colored Carbon/Kevlar to make the hood, then they put a candy red coat over the top.

either its straight red carbon, or they coulda got straight yellow kevlar and just put red candy over it...the yellow under it would make some red pop like that..

A 100% carbon fiber cloth can only be black. Since carbon fiber is made from carbon (obviously), carbon is naturally black.

The "colored carbon fiber" cloths that you guys are talking about, are actually called "hybrids" and are made from carbon fiber and another composite such as kevlar, fiberglass, etc.

It can be done but it costs BIG money! I work with prosthetics (amputees) and we can virtually do any colour we want!

that has existed since the 80's. the ferrari f40's came all factory painted red but if you looked at the car up close you will notice that its actual carbon fibre/kevlar body with a light coat of red paint to reduce weight. from far however it looks like a red car. you cannot put candy ontop of cf overlay and make it look like hte pic above. the only way to do that effect is to put one coat of regular 2 stage paint on.

The F40 is slightly different...as you said, they just put the paint on really, really thin. The Z above is a different story.

you are all wrong, it is red aluminized fiberglass. It is a fiberglass that has been electronically charged to take red aluminum

It is the same thing as what is advertised as silver carbon but red. Carbon is black.. There is no way to make carbon into any colors. If you see a hybrid that is red and black then the carbon is the black and kevlar is the red since that will take dyes.

Here is an example of some blue
