hi all, a friend was running B16A with obd0 ecu(stock) in integra XSI, the ecu was through code 23(knock Sensor) when i checked i found that there is no knock sensor, so i installed in the engine, reset the battery and no code now.

As he recently added this new long block, he was thinking that VTEC is not working, when I found that code I confirmed him that Vtec will not work untill u have this code,
Assuming in obd1 with knock sensor code there will be no Vtec.

after installation the car felt some what the same, before i was not sure if it was engaging VTEc or not but now it was, as i checked through Disconnecting vtec oil pressure switch, vtec stopped engaging.

but i didnt checked through disconnecting knock sensor,

My question is, will vtec work in obd0 if there is knock code?

 

no your v-tec will not work with the code. your best bet is to get it chiped or install a knock sensor those two will fix the problem good luck with that

 

No it will not work and just get a knock sensor they have them for a reason.

 

The knock sensor is installed, Vtec is engaging but its kind a hard to say if its working or not,,,
crossover voice is not coming ether ??

the car is only reving till 8k rpm?? suppose to go till 8200 rpm?

 

So, I'm a little confused. I've been throwing a Knock Sensor code for a while now and my vtec works great. This past week it was discovered that the plug is in the block, but it's broken off at the end so there aren't any wires running to it.

If the plug is in there but not connected is it fooling the motor, or is something else going on?

 

mine has been coming on intermittently for years, in my car at least, first gen b16a PW0, it makes no difference in the way the car runs
