Default 97 Accord transmission question

I have a 1997 SE (Auto) - with an LX non VTEC engine - and am in need of a transmission as mine is slipping and looks like it is "on it's way out"... I got a quote of $1600 from a local shop here in the San diego area. Was wondering if a 97 up Prelude (non SH) would fit and what a fair price was for it? Thanks in advance!!

Put this question to one of your local Auto Parts Recyclers. They have reference materials which list which will fit.

Most likely the final drive ratio will be different on the Prelude unit.

I can say that any Transmission within this range should work:
1994 thry 1997 DX,LX,SE,Limited Edition and even EX

Yes it will fit, but that's way too much for a transmission, most got for like $600 or so on ebay.

You will get worse gas mileage however as the gears are shorter.
