what wheels are these going on? These will be fine, but they will be wider with a thicker sidewall. Middle number is percent of width which equals sidewall.

i'm not really worried about the height tho its the width that worries me for rubbing since stock is 205 and these are a 225 thats a 20mm difference

no your fine. most run 225 width with aftermarket wheels lowered and dont rub. the only concern would be if they would fit on the wheel. What width is the wheel? if it is at least 6.5 you should be fine.

http://www.wheelweights.net/

has a lot of wheel specs on this site. The 02-04 is 16X6.5

but wait, you are saying 05 that is a 17 in wheel. And also remember that in winter the narrower the tire the better. Should go with 205 width or even 195 and you can get some blizzacks from tirerack for a decent price.

This isn't comparable if your offset is different than stock. What's your offset?

This is true, good point. Regardless if these are winter tires he shouldnt go over 205.

if you are dropped really low then these will rub. Not only is the tire height higher but the tire is wider on a narrow rim which will create a ballooning factor which will increase tire height.

These tires aren't wide enough to cause a problem, its the height I would worry about personally.

I run a 18x7.5" wheel +43mm offset with a Nitto Invo 225/40/18 on my car but I am about to switch to an 18x8.5" wheel with a 255/35/18 on it and I don't expect any clearance issues but I am also dropped pretty low, lol

That tire is way too big for an RSX.

205/55/16 = 24.9" diameter

225/60/16 = 26.6" diameter

That's a difference of 1.7". That's huge. Speedo will be way off and you'll have to start to worry about the tires rubbing on stuff when you make sharp turns. It's sometimes not only about how wide the tire is, but how tall it is too.

Good point Todd. This is a good reference to match stock diameter
