Default Which coilovers for a '94 DC4?

Mostly a DD but will do some mild autocross. Definitely for performance more than looks. Not looking to dump/slam the car. I'm researching for my friend but it's our project car

I'm looking at:

Function Form Coilovers Type 1

Skunk 2 Pro S Full Coilovers

The Skunk 2's are almost $100 more but I know Function Form's are pretty reputable. Looking around the $600-range so if you have any recommendations, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

for a DD/mild auto-x. i would suggest either a strut/spring combo like the koni yellow and ground control springs. or the buddyclub coilovers that are between 600-700 dollars, same with the k-sports. the Form and function set up is good. every skunk2 owner i have ever talked to had theirs rust up and they cant move around the threads, but that's pretty much every set up ha. i know k-sport uses aluminum for thread threads.

it all depends on the quality and function. buddyclub and k-sport are kinda stiff, i would get the buddyclub though, they will out last the ksport. tokico make the sturts for ksport and it seems to leak from time to time. i havnt heard much from form and function but they have a name like buddyclub so try them out.

some good things about ksport is that they make the coilover body out of aluminum so it dosnt corrode like steel. also they have some nice dampening adjustment that most of the coilovers in the same price range dosnt have. they best thing is that once out of warrenty and one of them blow, you dont have to send it out over seas like tien or buddyclub to get a replacment.

I had some function and form type 2 for my old 240 and they were okay... They were a lil stiff but not bad. The lower adjustments were bouncy. For the price range your talking about I would look into these http://hasport.com/shop/produc...d=166 I have heard some good things about them. Im actually thinking about getting a set in the next month or so. I still havent made up my mind either. Of course you could do some illuminas and good spring. Check this thread out too http://www.team-integra.net/fo...age=1 You could always check out the suspension forum for some reviews. The consensus would be koni/gc combo but it would be higher than what your looking to spend.

Yeah I run Progress comps on my DC5 and they're great and going strong.

So anyone have any more info on the function form type 1's? reason i'm so interested in them is cause they're brand new $600 shipped and come with damper settings unlike progress coilovers. where's a good place to order buddyclubs?

showstoppersusa has those function and form's listed wrong. those are the old style type 2's not type 1's. type 1's are only height adjustable and are around that price range.

yeah, i have those same type 2's and they are a little stiff but it's manageable. imo they would be a better deal than getting the new type 1's

i dont know where this is at but have you ever considered tien. Some of their retail crap is the same as the race car version.

if i was doing my dc2 that got stolen again, i would actually spend 3 or 4 grand on suspension. coil-overs.....then do sway bars and crap. imo the dc chassis is one of the most proven out there.

For those of you that keep saying coilovers are stiff...yes they are, and there is nothing you can really to about that...it's the nature of the beast. IMO I would go with a coilover that has an aluminum body, so that the threads do not rust. Any of the brands named above would probably feel about the same. Tein is a great name, but remember that tein also makes the "basic" coilover, which does have a steel body that rusts. I had a set of K-Sport on my RSX and the ride quality wasn't that bad. It all depends on how you have them set up, and in what part of the country you live in. Here in NE Pennsylvania the roads are horrible, and for all of my daily drivers the way I typically lower my car is with a set of "sport-like" springs (not a 2.5 inch race springs or anything) and tokico struts (or whatever brand you swear by). Good luck to the OP!
