My cat is going bad, sets off the P0420 code more and more often and I almost failed smog last time. It is to be expected after so many miles (160K+).

There are cheap *** ones ($100-200) from Kragen or Autozone, but they are 'universal' fit, meaning I have to weld it and I don't want to do that.

Does anyone know where to get a good price on an OEM-fit catalytic converter for a 00-01 GSR?

 

I work at an exhaust repair shop and I see cats go bad from 80-120K most often. 160K is pretty good to get out of it. Change it and be on your way

 

I agree, but are there better prices than $660 out there?
If not, I'll just live with CEL until it's smog time again.

That's probably about the going rate for an OE cat. The universals will be the cheap ones.
