whats up guys well my 91 civic 4dr with a b16 swap its been sitting for a few months now because i can't figure out this problem and it has me stumped! well i've been having a problem with my car shutting off while im driving and not turning on...and i mean like crusing down the highway like at 50 mph then all of a sudden boom no power, engine is shut off, and none of my electrical is working. well i thought it must be a short so i go through everything and i dont fix the problem...then i took the alternator out and had it tested and they said it was good! my pops tells me that alternators do actually do that but i was thinking i should still have some sort of power in the car. i checked all my grounds and i've been thinking it might be my ignition switch but im not sure....so i was hoping you guys could steer me in the right direction.

have u tried main relay u check all harnees plugs and the plugs at the ecu sometimes the big white one would just pop out and everything would die no power to anything

 

Change your battery!

I had a similar problem with my white '90 Si. Cracked cell in the battery...

 

yea it has a new main relay and we used my brothers battery and it still does the samething!

 

ground problem on the engine harness just use a 10mm socket andt thats it

Now that I think about it... does it have an alarm? If so, how is it wired??

The no power thing makes me wonder. I noticed on the black '90 Si I just purchased it has a similar issue that has shown it's face twice now, but only for a split second...

You said it had a new main relay, but what about all of the fuses?

 

Installing an engine at 4:00am tells me you’re wrong - I forgot the ground, but still had power - but not a bad place to start looking...

If I understand the problem you’re losing all power???

yea man im losing all power! and i just ordered a new alternator and starter i ordered the starter because i've needed one but if its the ignition switch also i'll order one to and get it all done at once! and yea it does have an alarm

 

well i replaced my alternator and wow big difference seems a lot better but i'll find out if the problem is fixed after driving it a bit
