Default 90 Civic Hatch STD

Hi i just bought a 90 Civic Hatchback, and was wondering if there were any major issues for that year hatch. I bought it not running without a motor, and was also wondering what motor comes stock in those. Sorry come from being a toyota enthusiast to honda/all import enthusiast.

http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ is an excellent resource for problems common to c. 1990 Hondas. The starting/running problems section is a good one to skim and to plan to read when the car has a problem.

The only major issues for this car would be mechanical, e.g. the input shaft bearing tends to go bad on these older D series engines after 150-200k. Since you don't have an engine, no worries. The car itself is pretty much bulletproof

Search around for DPFI > MPFI swaps, that will enable you to put a D16A6 (Si engine) or a B series in your car, otherwise you'll be stuck with the super slow DX/STD engines
