Default I found a solution to all my Civic issues........

Trading the damn thing in for a SE-R Spec V.
I should have it no later than November.

I figure why waste all that money buying seats, LSD, ENGINE, and all the other things to just have the same thing that this vehicle will already have.

Sure, I am switching sides however, I am more about performance than a supporter of a specific manufacturer. Yes, the 19K sticker is a very appealing part too.

I wanted Torque and now I am going to get it.

HAH

Last year the answer to all my civic issues was a Mr2 (1991 turbo, ran a 13.6 with barely any mods and turned HARD) But somehow I made it back here to honda again, the mr2 is a bitch to own, not that it broke down (never once) but just the aftermarket support. the cheap lightweight wheels, the plug and play ems systems, the flexability of honda brought me back, doing anything on the mr2 was a hassle, something just as small as getting coilovers was a hassle, had to have a certain offset, certain size blah blah it got annoying

The Spec V is a great car tho, I test drove one and it was really fun a bit to heavy for FWD (2743 Lbs) in my taste but that lsd does alot. the Tq of the car was great! looks good too. Yea and 19K for a Brand new car with all that the V has is a great price... Have fun, lets see how long it takes you to pick up a HF and say "well Im going to build a crx all motor on the side"

Awww, Gabe, at least if you're gonna switch make it worthwhile like a WRX or sumptin. They do have a point, even tho everyone has one, the good thing is everyone has one. Parts galore.

Tranny issues huh? Maybe they don't know what the hell they are doing and screw it up.

I already was thinking about a HF project with a fully built D16.....now I am going to sell the head on the D16Y8 and just save that money for the SER.

That car is going to make me happy stock.

Oh and the 27XX lbs. Civic SI's run 25XX lbs. 200 lbs for about 70 more ft-lbs and an LSD is worth it IMO.

I don't prefer the WRX.....too many Cat's too much temptation to crank the boost and too small in the cockpit. There I said it. Oh and the 7 grand more than the SER.

if you're gonna buy a SER for speed i wouldn't. They are not fast. I have beaten 2 SER's already and i have a 4dr civic with a b18c. My friend with a LS integra is about even with the SER and all he has is a filter. I like the SER and the way it looks but if you want it for speed then that's the wrong reason. If you want speed you could buy a hatch and so a lot of crazy **** with 17 grand. If anything buy like a used Type R or something

To me it is all about mid range.

EDIT: and R's are just too much of a theft target.

Gabe, seriously bro. Don't do it. I'm all for you getting something besides a honda, but these cars aren't that great.. Sure they are quick and IMO stylish. They have torque, but what is the #1 complaint that all SER owners have aswell as the mags? The transmission. They are junk trannies, and I mean that. My friend hasn't even owned his for a year and his syncros just keep going out. That's a fact and it's not shitty driving.

However, they are good looking and have a LSD. If you want something with 4 doors and similarly quick, get a 4door GSR.

ewww. I`d rather have a WRX or even a 3000lb GTI. At the end of the day you still have to say that own a sentra lol

Supposedly the 03's are getting a revised tranny and this is still a few months down the road. If the 03's don't get a new tranny then I will have to consider something else.

I rode in my friends Spec V last night, it's a decent car to ride in but it seemed like it was detuned a little too much. For instance, right around 5000, that motor really starts pulling, but the redline is 6200, and also, the variable timing vtec rip-off thing is kinda misrepresented. You only get it for like 1000 rpms and when you shift you go out of it. It's like a damn Celica GTS or something. I think a little aftermarket support will do wonders for this car.

I don't like the ser's because nissan blatantly lied about the numbers the car was going to be putting down, and then they came up very short. But what I want to know is where your buying a wrx for 25k? I can pick one up new for 21 and I consider the car a much better deal, or if your going to spend that much get a year old maxima or altima at least you'll have a car that you don't need to fix every couple of months. I understand the wrx isn't for everyone but there are better choices than the ser, and especially the specv.

And if your going to get the ser anyway check out carsdirect they have pretty good pricing, I just checked.

The intake manifold is a thin-wall aluminum casting and is equipped with dual intake runners. A longer one for low-rpm use and a shorter one that opens up at high rpm. The switchover happens at around 5000 rpm--surprisingly high, considering the low redline.

Intake primaries and secondaries.

A friend of mine and I test drove one , I liked it . The only things that I didn't like were the reverse lights next to the liscense plate (should have put them w/the brake lights IMO) And the stock continental tires really really suck.

Good luck spade hope you enjoy it . Oh what color were you gonna get?

OH yeah......forgot about Volkswagon.....what do the Golf's cost?

*goes to visit VDub dot com.

Was going to get BLACK. Something about the sleek look of a nice black car. If not that then it would be White.

I am just burnt on old Hondas. Unless someone wants to trade there GSR for a Civic.

Didn't think so.

everyone talks smack about the v-spec... my girl bought one 7000 miles ago and its a great car. easiest damn oil change i have ever done on a 4 banger. it has great power for the price and responds well to mods.

besides stock its faster than all the si's around here with mods.. it keeps up with my friends gsr, but he pulls at the end... but thats nothing diet wont cure... with 28lb wheels and a bunch of other crap it could stand to loose a few pounds.

if i had money and the choice, of all the new compacts on the market and coming out next year the civic and the rsx would be damn near last on my list.

i do have to agree with the one post about the GTI.. if you have the extra 3 grand get that (my girl was too cheap)

Have you considered a Mazda MP3? They're kinda rare...but maybe you could order one. The MP3's and Foo's Protege 5 kick *** in the GT series, but I haven't heard much about them in the "real world." Just something else to check into...
I drove a Protege 5 and I liked it.
