Default intake question

I have an 07 si and my check engine light came on so i brought it to my dealer for service. They told me 2 of my sensors went. They are telling me that because i have an aem short ram intake thats the problem. The guy tried to tell me that it just doesnt have enough serge or something? and it might keep happening? i think its just something that happened on accident and they dont want to pay for it. my car ran great for the 3 weeks that i have had it with the intake not a problem (had the car for about a month) then the light came on. anyone have any idea or experienced this before? any help would be nice.

Thanks

I dont know about the sensors being bad, but they definitely aren't fixing anything under warranty.

A lot of people ditch AEM units for Injen or Fujita. However, the new AEM cai is a great item as it offers a MAF housing insert with vanes for correct A/F readings and an upper radiator hose that clears the intake.

The insert can be bought seperate and adapted to your intake but you'd have to cut your intake pipe so it can be postioned correctly.

If you want to do this I can sell you the peice and if you wanted to take a step further you could send me the intake and I'll do it for free so long as you pay for shipping and buy the MAF insert from me. It's $25 but not listed on my website.

are you still covered under warranty? maybe take it to another dealership...perhaps they dont know what they are up to.

i would take off the intake and take it to another dealer or just take off the intake and see if the CEL comes on

Santan Honda in Arizona actually sells SRIs in their parts department. Along with a bunch of other performance upgrades. Dunno why, but they seem like the "cool cats" of the dealership ring.

Not sure where you live, but if you are near there, take the car to them. I also like the idea (above). Put the stock intake back on and take the car to another dealer. Just hope that they haven't logged in your aftermarket mods on their intranet.
