Suspension issue? Car bottoms alot.
Last past 6 months, I bottom out alot. My front end hits alot on slight incline changes. If I go over a speed bump, I can hear it sometimes hit the middle on the way down. When I turn corners if someone is in my car, I can hear it grind sometimes. Even when I hit a bump it does that. This never used to happen.
I was going to upgrade to Koni/GC, however when I bought my car, it was a year old in 2001. Apparently the guy upgraded the shocks already to Koni Yellows with Eibach springs. (Glad the dealership never noticed cause I bought it at a steal). I never took my tires off till this weekend and noticed this. Talk about a bonus.
So any ideas what I should look for? If I push the car down, it does not bounce so I'm assuming struts are good. However I do hear a squeaky spring sound. Is it possible the springs are sagging?
I have about a 1.5 finger room from the top of the tires. I swear it used to be 2 but I could be wrong. My tires are 205/45/17 or 205/40/17. I can't recall off the top of my head. I think they are 45 though.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have my car tore apart for a timing belt install so perfect opportunity to fix it.
Thanks

I'm not an expert by any means. Are you referring to the joints of the CV joints on the axle? If so, yes the inner one is torn and I'm replacing the whole axle this weekend. That wouldn't affect the bottoming out issue though.
